Hello! I have a very active (almost) 14 month little girl. She loves all activities gross motor. We have taken Gymboree classes which are great, but a bit expensive. I am looking for a place to take her to play that is developmentally appropriate and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. In the area I used to live the university offered "stop and play" times as part of their child development center. Does anyone have any ideas? Or know of similar opportunities in the Naperville or surrounding areas?

What can I do next?

L.,
I'm rather new to this area, but have found a place called "My Gym" for kids. I have 21 month old (boy-girl) twins that have really been enjoying going to this activity once a week. There is one located near the Toys R Us adacent to the Fox Valley Mall. There is a one-time family membership fee, but this is transferable to any other "My Gym" location. The classes average about $17 a class (1 hr long) and siblings are discounted. www.mygym.com

I also have my kids enrolled in a music class that is great! It's called Music Together of Naperville. (Check out their web site for some upcoming summer classes, if you are interested. www.musictogetherofnaperville.com ) The music teacher, Joan Heidler, if fantastic! There are several locations. The one we've been attending is held in East Aurora (also near the Fox Valley Mall) on Common Drive at "Vocals and More" behind the Ponderosa.
Hope this is helpful.

At Community Christian Church School for the Arts, we offer Kindermusik classes that the kids love. That may be something fun to do. We are located at Ogden and Rickert and they also have classes in Romeoville. The nunber is ###-###-####.

Hi L.,

I've heard positive things about Elmhurst College's child care center. It might be something worth looking into depending on how close it is to you, and what type of programming they offer: http://public.elmhurst.edu/visitors/1314402.html

Good luck!
