Hello Ladies! I was wondering if any of you had a child who would like to become a pen-pal. I have an 8 year old daughter who loves to send and receive mail and i thought that she might like to have a pen-pal but i don't know how to go about finding one. I thought about the internet but you know all of those pedophiles posing as children makes the cyber world scary and unreliable! Let me know if anyone is interested...

When I was that age, I had a penpal who was serving in the Gulf War. Our teacher at school set it up so that we had soldier pen pals. I was soo excited when I got a letter, I was cleaning out boxes the other day, and I found his letter!

Maybe on top of having a fun girl penpal, she could also have a soldier penpal.

(On that site, you can message them for info without having an account.)

I have a 6 1/2 year old daughter who also loves to send and receive mail as well. If you think your daughter would be okay with a younger pen pal you could send me a pm and we can trade info., if not that's okay too. Just let me know...

I have a 9yo daughter that would love to have a penpal. If you still need one, or if anybody else needs one, let me know. I've been thinking the same thing but didn't know where to start looking for one. I think it's one of those ideas that is just sort of dying out with all the computers and email and such.

Start with your school teacher. The school may have a sister/ brother school in another country. Also, the military. There
are men and women who would enjoy a penpal at home. *can nail one by city...will make them feel good to have news of the home
town*. If you are a member of a church, the church may have a fellow church in another state. If the military route is decided on, set ground rules...you get to send a letter stating them to the person who is being asked to be penpal. A female military would be better for your daughter. She can have girl talk. With ground rules...you are the one to talk about sex. Tell in the letter. Clean, moral values are a must.
That you as the parent are the one to talk of sex, talk of drugs in regards of the bad stuff can be both sides. I mean, the bad stuff, drugs are bad for you. Unless dr prescribes it,
it if not desired. Be plain and firm. And state as the parent, you will periodically read the letters. Both sides are made aware. As time goes by and there is trust established...then you can read them less often. Pictures...moral only. *dressed*
*regardless of shorts and tank or halloween costume**clothed*.
I hope the school has a sister/brother school. The talk of different foods and other things are good for learning.

My daughter is 9.5 but would really enjoy becoming a pen pal! This is a GREAT idea...I haven't even thought of doing this with her! She is my middle child and I think she would feel pretty special having a friend outside of school that she could write to.
