I am currently in the middle of my first pregnancy.
I have been going to an OBGYN in Flower Mound and have grown to realize the office has NO patience. The OB has not answered any questions because I have had no time to ask. I am always feeling rushed. I get handed prescriptions for congestion and whatnot as I'm being rushed out the door.
My Sonogram was quick. I think it was maybe 8 minutes flat. I asked her to tell me what she was doing while she was doing it and Nothing. I went in for the sonogram to find the sex which was a girl. When she was finished she just wiped my stomach off and told me to hop up. I then asked can I get a copy of the sonogram to take home and she said that I was supposed to bring in a CD or VHS tape of my own in order to get it but it has already been done. I don't get to experience that and show that to my family becuase it has already been done. That's it.
The office has been really nice but I don't feel like a patient. I feel rushed and almost as if I am a number instead of a person. At the beginning when I found out I was pregnant I expected my first OB appointment to be informative and helpful it wasn't. I am smart enough to get on the computer and read while reading books, but what am I paying this lady to do is what I almost feel like. Look at me for 5 seconds and then push me out the door.
I am not saying that I have tons of questions, but I would like to be acknowledged.
Right now I am scheduled to deliver at Trinity Medical. I would like to find another OBGYN close to the Denton/ Corinth area. And also have them deliver at a hospital that has a great NICU unit.
Please any and all information would be helpful. Even if it means that I am simply asking too much from my OB and I am just freaking out because this is my first pregnancy.
I also go to Dr Finger, and she and anyone in her group are great!
Good Luck !

I've been going to Caring For Women for almost 3 years now. Out of the four doctors in the practice, I have seen two; Dr. Laura Finger and Dr. Monica Popov. Both are wonderful!! Dr. Popov delivered both of my girls. They are located across the street from Denton Regional Medical Center. I joke that I want to get pregnant again so that I can see Dr. Popov on a regular basis! Check them out...

I used Dr. Rudy Tovar in Lewisville, he is also the Chief of Staff at Medical Ctr. of Lewisville. I would imagine he doesn't do Trinity but I would like to say that one of my twins was in the NICU at Med. Ctr. of Lewisville and I thought his care was second to none. Anyway, I will agree with the other mom that said that you'll probably never find that perfect doctor that won't feel a little rushed. I think they've become so accustomed to being called out at a moment's notice for someone who is in labor and ready to deliver that he/she wants to try and get as many patients seen before that happens. Anyway, Dr. Tovar was very imformative, when my first sonogram at 14 weeks showed twins, I spent the rest of my visit in his personal office (not the exam room) discussing how things had become very different since my first appt. at 10 weeks. I felt like he gave me the time I needed at each of my appts. Also, sorry about the recording thing. It's a shame you didn't have another mom tell you ahead of time how it would be. I was fortunate that I went to church with the lady who was doing my sonogram so when she saw I was on her schedule, she found me at church one Sunday to make sure I knew about the video thing. Anyway, best wishes on finding a new doctor.
I used Dr. Christina Dooley and LOVED her!! I used her with my 4th and she was amazing. That, and she delivers at Denton Presby, which has a NICU, while to my knowledge, Denton regional (where Caring for Women delivers) does not. I could be wrong on that one, but I think that is true. I had several ultrasounds, and she noticed things to check, that other dr.s never did. I never felt rushed, even if I knew she was busy that day. But, my final recommendation comes because of how well she handled my delivery. I had always had quick deliveries, a few simple pushes, and I had a baby. I had come to expect that, but my last one decided to make it difficult. I was in a great deal of pain at this point, and sort of feeling like those crazy people on a baby story who say they cant do it..but I had never done a delivery like this and I was scared. She took control, look me straight in the eyes, and never broke that gaze, and got me through a very difficult time. She later told me that had this been my first baby, we would have had to do a c-section. Those tough moments are what makes a great dr. in my mind and she was amazing. WOW, I guess you get the picture:) Best of luck wiht your decision, stick to your guns, and change now!! yeah for you for having the gumption to make this change! ~A.~
I also go to caring for women. I use Dr. Valenti. But honestly all 4 in the practice are great.

I go to Caring For Women in Denton. I see Dr. Finger and she is super nice. As far as feeling like a number, I think it's just the way it goes in most offices. They are just so busy! I had my 1st in Lewisville and I can honestly tell you that the experience I had in Denton was amazing. I didn't get to sit and chat it up with the doctor at my appointments, but she did care. She has two little boys of her own so she understands what it's like to be a mom.
The sonographer just had her 1st baby in January so she is aware of how 1st time moms feel.
It's worth a shot! Good luck!!
