Looking for a New Swim Class

Currently I have my son whos is 1 year in a swim class that doesn't have a heated pool. He is freezing, and can't concentrate on anything other than staying warm- even in a full wetsuit. Anyone have a class with a heated pool they can recomend? We are in the Andersonville area- and are willing to drive anywhere. Thank you!!

We are Chicago residents and take swim classes at Niles Family Fitness which is on the corner of Oakton and Waukegan. Their pool is heated and we enjoy their programs. Good luck

I second the recommendation for the Lakeview YMCA. I have taken both of my toddlers to swimming classes there and the pool is always kept at a comfortable temp. Their website is http://www.lakeviewymca.org/

On Saturday a friend was just telling me about the swim class she had her daughter enrolled in. It was at the Galter Life Center, 5157 N Francisco Avenue. Her daughter is terrified of the water so they were taking private lessons there and she was doing really well. I am fairly certain that the pools are heated. You could call to double check ###-###-####. They also have a nursery if you have other kids who need to be watched. Good luck!

The McGaw YMCA in Evanston has 2 pools. The one that's warm is where they have all of their classes for children. You may want to go around and check out the different facilities or call and find out how warm each place keeps their pool.

Hi K.,

My daughter and I have taken classes at the Lakeview Y, at Paulina and School Street and the water is just right. I'm the wimp when it comes to cold water, so I know it's comfortable. We also took a class at Eckhart Park at 1330 W. Chicago Ave.--further away I know, but we took it with friends who live more south--and the water there was definitely warm, and the Park District price is right. Have you checked out the pool at Welles Park, at Montrose and Western?

Good luck,

S.

I have heard really good things about the swim classes at the Glenview Park District. It will be a little drive but you mentioned you didn't mind driving.

The best swim class around is the YWCA up in Evanston on Church St (I think). I think it's the warmest pool but it can still be cold sometimes. My daughter wore a wet-suit until she was about 11. Good luck!
