Where do you live? What area? If in the Morris area, Dr. Jennifer Jones is fantastic. Looks for non medical treatments first. She is in family practice/she is on Bedford Rd.
I take my children to a good ped. in Frankfort but that is entirely too far to travel when the kids are sick. I just want to know more about the pediatricians in my area, like who can be trusted etc. I also don't want a Dr. that immediately writes a prescription for every little problem.

Aschiberg Pediatrics is in Joliet and they are awesome. They don't just give medicine away either.
Not clear where you live - but if in the Aurora/naperville area, then try Naperville Pediatric associates - we like Dr.Kudchadker the best of the three.

I go to Dr. Dumais in Orland Park, he is so great, has a smaller practice that just opened up, but is very experienced. He works in the NICU at Christ Hospital and everyone at Christ has so many nice things to say about him and loved him so much. I live in Downers Grove and go to him still because he is so great.

I take my kids to Dr. Gene Denning in Tinley Park. I don't know how much closer that is to you than Frankfort is. He is affiliated with Christ Advocate in Oak Lawn. He deffinetly doesn't write prescriptions just for anything either. My oldest son is 5. When he was 2 he complained about his back hurting. I took him to Dr. Denning and he thought maybe his back didn't feel normal to him. He sent me ovewr to Christ / Hope Children's Hospital for x-rays. They saw something that they wanted to check out a little better and send him for an MRI. We found out that he has a Spina Bifida defect. He is OK, nothing for us to worry about. I just always think that most doctors would have said "he probably fell and hit his back" or something like that. He is also very, very good with the kids. They are never afraid of going to see him. Hope this helps a little bit.
Dr. Cunnar of Dupage Family Medicine is awesome. He is located in Naperville (95th and Plainfield). He is a family practice doctor. He has a great personalitly and doesn't jump to perscriptions. He treats you like you are a member of his family. Not only does my daughter go to him, both my husband and I do as well.
