Looking for a Great OBGYN in Northwest Austin

I am 31 and pregnant with number 3. I am seeing Dr. Chapman at the Round Rock Scott and White Hospital. The hospital is organized, the staff is great (so far) in the hospital and in the obgyn office. I have not had to wait very long for office visits, maybe 10-15 min.

Dr. Solomon or Dr. Hughes are both amazing OBGYN's at Seton NW Hopital. They are part of ARC. I'm expecting my second child and have gone back to see Dr. Solomon. Dr. Hughes delivered my first child only because Dr. Solomon was on vacation when she was born. Both are kind and gentle men.

Try Renaissance Women's Group. I see Dr. Collins and absolutely love her. All of the Drs there are really good. The office is right behind NAMC.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Guy Blumhagen. I actually switched FROM a female dr to him and it was a great decision. He included my other kiddos throughout the entire pregnancy, and always took his time during appointments.

ETA- Chasalani, Brasher-Giles, Blumhagen, Solomon, (and a few more) are all part of the same practice at Seton NW :)

I can definitely recommend Dr. Linda Litzinger at RWG. I've gone to Dr. Lit for 12 years. She delivered both my girls (by c-section) at North Austin Med Center (which is very nice). I trust her completely and think that she's just great. She'll be delivering our new baby next week.

I LOVE Dr Laura Merrit at Renassaince Women's Center. They are in the medical buildings behind NW Austin Medical Center. She is a great dr and her office/nurses are wonderful and very responsive. I had an emergency c with my second and the way she commanded the room in that intense situation in addition to the way she communicated with me and my husband was fabulous. You won't be disappointed.

i hope you found a great doctor, but I absolutley loved my doctor and she is at St. Davids North Austin Hospital, Dr. Angela Meyer, D.O., with the Austin Diagnostic Clinic (first floor inside the hospital). She was very informative, very supportive, and a I had complete trust in her concerning the birth of my first child. The location was convenient because in my case I went to the hospital and had to be admitted directly from my appointment-and my room was upstairs ready to go and I had an epidural in 30 minutes. The nurses were wonderful and rooms are big and clean :) I would highly recommend her and wish you luck with your pregnancy.

I use Renaissance Womens Group. They are located right behind NAMC. My doctor is Sherry Neyman, but I have heard good things about the other doctors there also.

Seton Northwest Hospital has the best group of OB doctors (I know because I work with them) The Austin regional clinic will be the best and I would recomend Dr. Renee Lockey.

I really like Dr. Stephanie McNelis at The Women's Center of ADC. It is downstairs in NAMC. The staff there is wonderful. Her nurse is awesome. I delivered both times by c-section.

Dr. Patrick S. Pevoto delivered our first daughter, and walked us through natural delivery so kindly ( which we needed, since my 1st pregnancy, was a miscarriage and we were a little scared) and even stayed to pray with us after recovery! I would recommend him to anyone!

My OBGYN is Renu Chalasani, not sure if I spelled that right?
She is awesome. I just had a hysterectomy with her in November, her bedside manner is great. And she is a new mother of twins herself. She is located in Seton NW on 183, that location is a great hospital to be in also. Hope this helps!! OH PS- her nurse, Debbie is also awesome, as I've told the Dr. several times & she agrees, they get along great!!

I love to also look at the responses!! So, after I wrote this I saw that Dr. Brasher-Giles was also recommended, she/he is located in the same office with Dr. Chalasani!!

Dr. Noble Doss, Jr is a wonderful doctor and has a great staff. He is located off North Lamar on 42nd Street just down from Central Market and Seton Hospital.

Well, hopefully my Dr's office was not the one you went to. It is Travis OBGYN. Dr. Peveto is the Dr. He is really great! There are other great doctors there as well. You do have to wait for him, but it's because he takes his time, and he remembers who you are and your situation. I know many women who go to him and there are NO complaints. His office is actually there at the North Austin Medi Center.

I am also intrested if this was your experience at Dr. Margaret Thompsons office? She just delivered my daughter on 1/21 and I found out of her retiremment when I went in to see them afterwards. It was sad but sounds like she will be doing great things in the field of medical la.

I recently found myself in a similar situation. I lived in South Austin when my first son was born and while pregnant with my second son we moved to North Austin so finding a new OBGYN was a necessity. I am delivering at NAMC and have found a wonderful practice at Renaissance Women's Group. Theier offices are located right behind NAMC. My particular doctor is Laura Meritt, she was a recommendation from a friend at my church. The other doctor in her suite is Melanie Collins. I actually had an appt with her last week and really enjoyed talking with her as well. My nurse has always been super sweet and very personal. I haven't had a negative experience in the office yet. It's an all female group of doctors with the exception of the Dr who does your ultrasound. They also offer a variety of classes. With my first pregnancy I also noticed I sometimes had a hard time reaching the nursing staff the same day over the phone. I haven't had any problems with that since being at RWG. You wouldn't be speaking of Dr. Margaret Thompson at RWG?If so, I too was devastated to hear of her "abrupt retirement". I have only seen the new Dr. once and haven't made a decision about her. I do have concerns ... I am sorry I do not have any recommendations. Please let me know if you find a reputable office (with great staff, of course) At this point, we are still planning to deliver at North Austin Medical with the new Dr.

A little about me:
A 4o yr. medical aesthetician (not working now) pregnant with my first child due in June. Happily married for 5 1/2 years.

Several have suggested Renaissance Women's Group already and just wanted to add that I go to Dr. Laura Meritt and really like her. She was my OB for both kids. She was out of town when my first came and Dr. Neyman delivered our son via c-section, but Dr. Meritt delivered our daughter. I think Dr. Merrit is great!

This might sound silly but I don't know if I am considered Northwest. We just moved her a bit ago and I know I am north!

Since you want to deliver at North Austin Medical Center I would say the Austin Women MDs off Renfert is a great place. I had Dr. Briskey, but Dr. Sebastien was the one who was on call and delivered my baby. Dr. Sebastien is in to natural births. The staff is all very friendly and I only had to wait a long time once. That was because the doctor had an emergency at the hospital. Good luck and congratulations!

Hi-My OB-GYn is awesome! His name is Patrick Scott Pevoto and he is soooo caring and nurturing. He is young like 48 or so.
I had 3 babies between 35 and 40 and had all three via c-section due to same reason. I was sooo pleased with his care, post surgery consults, follow-ups and he even circumcised the last boy at Seton NorthWest (By Braker and Duval in Research). His practice in with "Travis OB-GYN" in the fourth floor. I can asure you he is one good man and doctor. Ph# ###-###-####-I also always was able to be "squeezed in" into his schedule if things came up. He also has a good nurse practitioner who is sooo caring and nice. Never in a rush and very "thorough" and consistent in her clinical care. Good luck and congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your little blessing! I love Dr. Enzie Brisky with Austin Women MD's. She delivered both of my kids and was great! She never made me feel rushed or that she was too good to have a conversation with me. Her office is in the building behind North Austin Medical Center

I go to Seton Northwest. I see Dr. Lockey, and loved all the nurses there! I would definitely recommend this practice!

My doc is at Seton NW, but he is GREAT! I like his nurse too. Granted there were some nurses in the hospital I didn't like, but it seems that's the norm anywhere, and there were some good ones. And when I was pregnant with my son I saw his PA (I think that's what they're called?) a couple times and I liked her too. My doc is Dr. Solomon. He is very friendly & personable. He is sympathetic with any pain or discomfort you have. He was very good at discussing my options with me. Then when it got down to where I was probably going to have to have a c-section (which I did), he discussed my options with me. He was good at discussing things with me even before that point. I highly reccomend him. His number is ###-###-####. The only thing is like I said, he's at Seton Northwest (his office is actually in a part of the hospital, which would make it convenient if something went wrong. It did make it nice when they were inducing me because he was able to monitor me from his office and could've been there in no time.

I had my son at NAMC in April of 01'. I had Dr. Barbour for a OB/GYN. He is a great doctor, but not the best with warm fuzzies. He is thorough with the medical details, but was actually quite messy in the delivery room. Everything worked out great and I have no huge complaints. I did have to wait during doctor visits, but I have never really had the luxury of not waiting for dentists and doctors. As far as knowledge and confidence, I believe Dr. Barbour is a great person to be with. Renaissance Women's Group is across the street and they use NAMC for the hospital to deliver in. I go there now because my insurance changed and I had to switch doctors. I now see Dr. Melanie Collins and wait as well in their office. I wish you the best.

I believe we had the same OB...I am going to be a first time mom and my ob informed me of her decision about 6 weeks ago. I opted not to see the new doctor b/c of her reputation at some of the hospitals. My heart was set on NAMC. I am now seeing an OB in central Austin and love her.

If you should change your mind about where you want to give birth, Sally Grogono, MD is great. I had reservations about Seton Medical Center, but I figure my OB is more important to me than exactly where I give birth and Seton has a real NICU in case something does go wrong and your baby must go to one. I know a lot of medical professionals in N Austin and no one could recommend another OB to me that I felt comfortable with. I hope this helps you.

This may not be very convenient for you but I highly recommend Dr. Nancy Binford. She was in a practice with 7-8 other doctors, then created her own practice after they all decided to move to N Austin Medical Center from Seton Central area. She's at 38th/Lamar, can't say enough great things about this practice, nurse staff, etc... truly amazing.

I recently went through a miscarriage and had to have a D and C done. I saw Dr. Blumhagen at Seton Northwest and I was so impressed with how professional and compassionate he was towards my situation. I am also over forty and he was very understanding of my concern about wanting to try again for another child as well. Despite having been through something very difficult the entire experience was very positive and I would definitely recommend Dr. Blumhagen.

I'm currently expecting and love my Gyno/OB. I've been seeing her as my regular Gyno for several years and now to deliver our first. I see Dr. Tara Mills. She's part of Renaissance Women's Group.

Also part of the same group is Sherry L. Neyman, MD. My sister just had twins and really liked Dr. Neyman. Also Neyman is a little more experienced and handles higher risk pregnancies.

I agree with Jessica & Amy. Go to the Austin Regional Clinic Group of OB/Gyn's at Seton Northwest Hospital. They have the greatest group of doctors. I see Dr. Brasher-Giles but I also really like Dr Hughes and Dr Lockey. I feel like they really care about their patients and are very intelligent. I really like their nurses at the office. Also, several of my friends and I have all delivered at Seton Northwest Hospital and had a GREAT experience. The Labor & Delivery nurses were Awesome !!!

Dr. Meadows has proven to be unprofessional in both her professional and business dealings with us. We are expecting our second child and had a wonderful OB for our first delivery. Dr. Meadows has made us wait up to two hours for a scheduled appointment while patients who were not scheduled got straight in. It is very frustrating to get into the office for a five minute visit at three o'clock and be the last one out of the office while she deals with other things. In addition, the after hours number she gives forwards to a clinic. And when I was 33 weeks pregnant and too late to find another doctor she made me sign a paper saying there was an additional $50 fee that insurance would not pay for her to fill out two short forms. One for my maternity leave and another for disability, both standard forms that are required by my job and both short enough that my last doctor filled them out in one minute while I waited. Unprofessional is an understatement.

I don't recommend North Austin Medical Center at all. They have a dangerously high cesarean rate (it's actually 30 percent higher than what is deemed medically safe by the World Health Organization). They also have a ridiculously high episiotomy rate (just in case you are going to be able to deliver vaginally). Dr. Collins delivered my last baby there (she wasn't my doctor, but she was the doctor on call) and she tried to cut me without even telling me what she was planning. When I figured out what she was trying to do (a forcep and episiotomy delivery) I had to fight her off while my baby's head was crowning. And after I pushed my daughter out naturally without me tearing at all, she just sat there and stared at my vagina which was kind of uncomfortable. They don't have much faith in the female reproductive system and they tend to look for problems that aren't there. The post-partum staff was horrible. They treated me like a child and yelled at me. One nurse actually threaten to take my baby away and not let me breast feed her for no reason whatsoever. My baby had latched on and was feeding perfectly. When my husband came back and she realized that I was a grown woman and not a child she just left.

Needless to say, we're not having our newest addition there. We have got a certified nurse midwife this time around (which insurance covers) and this pregnancy has been so much more peaceful than my last. I actually have faith in my body, which I think was taken away by my OB constantly looking for problems. We're delivering in the peaceful environment of our own home and I really feel so much more confident and at peace than I did when I was in the hospital. If you've thought about it, home birth is still an option for you regardless of your age, and past deliveries. There are even several birthing centers here in Austin if you'd feel more comfortable.
Either way, I really hope you have the pregnancy and the birth that you want most, because that is what is most important. I hope it is peaceful and full of love. God bless you!

I'm about to deliver again -babies #3&4. I love my OBGYN and the other doctors in her practice. I use Dr. Sherry Neyman with Renaissance Women's Group. They deliver at North Austin Medical Center. Their staff is great. I see my doctor every other time I go in so I never feel out of touch with her. She even calls me at home if she needs to talk to me instead of a nurse always calling.
