I know of a great, honest, reliable computer person. That is his full time business. His name is Bob O'Bannon, here's his phone # - ###-###-#### & his email- ____@____.com Hope it helps. He is really great! S.
Hello! My laptop has recently started to run VERY slowly...and it's driving me crazy! Can anyone recommend a good, trustworthy, and reasonably priced computer person? I know I could take it to Best Buy to the Geek Squad, but they can be pricey and take a while to return my laptop. Thank you!

C.,
Give Bob o'Bannon a call....he has helped many of my friends/business associates with their computers, and I am sure he can help you also. His rates are very reasonable, and he is just the nicest man too. He will take very good care of you. His number is ###-###-####. Tell him K. Moon sent you...and he will take extra special care of you(ha)
I have a personal friend who would probably be willing to work on your laptop. He has graduated from school for things like this-I'm not computer educated either, so I don't know all the terms, but I know he's good. He works for a company locally that fixes all types of computers at businesses all over the metroplex. If you'd like his number, just let me know. My e-mail address is ____@____.com
Have you used any spyware removal programs to help clean off the 'junk' that accumulates from different websites? Sometimes that alone will help the performance. It usually finds a lot of hidden files - like temporary files and cookies that are placed on your pc by visiting different websites. And it definitely slows your computer down.
A really good free one is www.ccleaner.com.
Another one is called Ad-aware SE Personal.
Go to
http://www.lavasoft.com/
And in the top right corner click where it has 'Free Download Ad Aware SE Personal'
I would try running these first to see if it helps your computer performance.
Hope that helps

I agree with Angela that there are a few things you can do first prior to calling a tech. Install a spyware program (I use AdAware) and that will detect and remove a lot of tracking devices on your computer. Also be sure to delete your internet cookies, temp files and history files on a regular basis.
If you store photos/movies/music on your computer, they may be taking up a lot of space. You might want to look at compressing old files or removing them and placing them on a CD.
You can remove programs that you don't use anymore. Be careful what you delete, however, as some of the programs are tied directly to the operating system. Only be sure to remove the programs that you know you installed after market.
One last thing: Defrag your computer as that will compress files and programs and allow your system to run faster.
Also remember that if your computer is a few years old, it could be outdated for the more modern programs/games as they do take up more memory and space. It might be time for an upgrade.
