I am looking for a good and affordable cell phone provider. I need as many minutes as possible for the least amount of money and a provider that is reliable. Please only answer by experience. I have looked around at different phone plans but I know a lot of places have catches so I would like to know from people that know by experience. I am thinking about MetroPCS....Has anyone tried them? Or does anyone currently use them?

I have used Tmobile for over a year now and just recently upgraded for another 2 years. I am big on service and Tmobile has provided that to me. I get coverage where Cingular and Altel don't - before and after Ft. Stockton! Also, both my 14 yr old dd have a Kid Connect phone ... 19.99 a month for 100 minutes that cuts off once they've reached the 100 ... they can use it for tm or calls ... plus even when they're out of minutes they can still call tmobile customers - like ME! They don't get a kiddy either ... Oh ... when I "roam" Tmobile credits my acct back the amt I was charged for roaming ... no roaming charges! That pays for itself. I pay 49.99 for 600 minutes. I have myfav - pick 5 you can talk to for free anytime ... it's been great! Plus you get tmobile to tmobile.

IMHO

I don't work for them, but the absolute best deal for the money is Metro PCS. You have to purchase one of their phones, and there are several(you can look online or at one of the many retailers), but the price includes your first month. The monthly rates are from $39-$50 cheap, and are UNLIMITED. The $50 is what my daughter's have, and it's even unlimited texting and web. There is no contract which is nice. I'm still stuck in my contract with AT&T. My phone was free, but I had to sign a two year contract. I pay $69 for only 450 minutes and free after nights and weekends. I hate being limited and often go over. I can't get the web. I like the fact my daughters always have one set monthly price and can't go over. The only thing I've heard with Metro, is that it's not available for service in some areas. I don't know where though, there's a map on the site. My daughters use theirs locally around Dallas/Denton and never have trouble, but if you travel you might want to check into that.

If your looking for the best bang for your buck, then your best bet is T-Mobile. They have great service and have good coverage. As far as dropped calls, they are going to a 3G network which is great! They also have the @Home plan, which means that if you have the internet at your home, then they will sell you a router and all your cell phone calls from your home are FREE! They are also FREE at any T-Mobile HotSpot. Good luck!

You are smart asking people's opinions and trying to get information on providers. Just remember, you get what you pay for. My mother-in-law resisted both my and her daughter's suggestions NOT to go with the cheapest provider out there (was looking for a multiple phone *family plan) and now she hates them and is stuck. I honestly think she didn't choose one of our suggestions because they were different and she didn't want to show favoritism... goofy woman. Anyway, that is neither here nor there but I just wanted to make sure you did a lot of research and didn't let the bottom dollar be your deciding factor.

I have had Verizon since before it was Verizon (remember the little pink alien from PrimeCo?). I have had incredible service from them and overall am very happy. Sure there are billing issues here and there and sometimes something gets a little sideways in service (big Verizon blackout a few months ago) but overall things have been great. Verizon always steps up when there is a problem and they fix it right away. Also, when I have had an unusually high volume month and gone over minutes (death in the family, talkitive teenager, etc.) a quick call to Verizon Customer service and a humorous "HEEEELP" plea always results in a GENEROUS amount of bonus minutes to prevent your phone or any on your plan from going over.

So there it is... my vote is Verizon for their stability in service (RARELY a dropped call) and their CUSTOMER service (for the customer!).

Also, hee hee, check with each provider to see if they offer a discount with your employer. I know V offers a LOT of discounts.

MetroPCS might meet your needs but check their call area. Certain areas cannot use Metro due to their lack of coverage. Personally, I've stuck with Sprint for 8 yrs and find that they still beat the competitors overall, more coverage, better service/repair policy, more for your money, larger choice of phones, etc.

My husband & I just switched to metropcs. So far we have been pleased. We get unlimited text and calls (Local and long distance) for $45 per month. The only problem is that you have to be in a coverage area or you will be roaming. You can look at the coverage map that they have on line to see if it's the way to go for you. We don't have a home phone so we use our cells all the time. The only time we'd have a problem is when we visit NY to see our parents and then we just go to the metropcs store and purchase some roaming minutes. Oh -- and we did have to buy our phones, they don't run any deals like the other providers where you can get a free one, but they also don't make you sign a 2-year contract.

Hi E.,

My Husband I both have Metro PCS phones and are very pleased. We share a family plan and for both of our phone's with every feature added, we pay $95 a month. That's tax included.
We are not big travelers though so we never have any problems going out of the coverage area. If you do alot of distant driving or traveling, then yes you should check the coverage areas. However, if you're pretty local then you won't have any problems. I LOVE not being charged for any overtime minutes and having no contract to be tied down to.
We've used this phone service for over a year now and my sister and mom do as well.
Take care and let me know if you have any questions.
~N.~
P.S. You can find metro pcs dealers all around town that sell used phones for half the price of a brand new one. I bought a used one for $40 that would have cost $99 brand new so make sure you get a good deal on a phone if you don't mind used phones. (Mines never had any problems)

I LOVE my T-Mobile service. They have a fave 5 plan where you can talk to whoever you have in your fave 5 unlimitedly. I also feel you get the most minutes for your money. I have had AT&T, Sprint, & Nextel & T-Mobile is by far my favorite. I also feel their add-ons like unlimited text messaging plans are not very expensive.

My family has Cingular and we LOVE it. We use the family plan for my husband, me and my 13 year old. Unused minutes rollover and we talk to anyone with Cingular for free. We also talk to anyone w/ AT&T Business or Home phone for free as well.

I wouldn't suggest any other provider!

E.,
Good luck, I've had Cingular, T-mobile, and Metro- PCS. Metro-PCS is the cheapest but I HATED their serive. Not only was their service area very limited, I had so many dropped calls. If I had any problems with bills I was on hold so long that I would end up having to drive to one of their locations. It was a very BAD experience. I now have went back to T-mobile and I'm happy. They have came out with a new kid connect so I get my son's phone for only 19.99 per month. He can always stay in contact with T-mobile costumers no matter if he runs out of minutes - which I love because he can't run up the bill either. Me, my husband and son are on T-mobile and our bill is usually around $100 per month.
Good luck,
M.

I've had Sprint, T-Mobile, and Cingular and Cingular was by far the best. Their rollover plan is great and their reception is exceptional. T-Mobile isn't so bad but I have more dropped calls with them than with Cingular. Good luck!

Have you looked into Metro PCS? The just happens to be a location in Lake Dallas, on the East side of 35E, next to The Point restaurant. Good luck, I hate my provider but am unable to switch.
