If he won't accept any money, how about making sure you guys remove his snow this winter? I know that is something that an elderly person will certainly appreciate!! Send him a thank you card too.
My family has been gone all summer from our home. I arranged for someone to mow our grass. However, I found out our elderly neighbor has done it for us. He is a lay preacher and won't except any money for mowing our yard. I would like to get him a nice gift but am clueless. PLEASE help mommas. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

How about a donation to his church in his name? If he lives alone, he might also like home baked goods. (I'm being totally sexist assuming an older gentleman can't bake - sorry for that)
Could you invite him over for dinner as a thank you? A gift card is a wonderful gift, but he would probably really appreciate a nice meal and conversation with your family.
He sounds like a sweet man!
Maybe a week's worth of home-cooked dinners?
Get him something from Omaha Steaks! Seriously, their food is inexpensive and delicious! I've had a bunch of different kinds of steaks from them, as well as their hamburgers - YUM!! We just remodeled our kitchen and I loved our contractor so much (he went above and beyond) so I got him some steaks from Omaha Steaks. They really are a great value!
Bake him something! My neighbors love it when I cook for them.
I agree with the home baked goods - you are returning a favor he did out of "neigborly-ness" with something also very neighborly.
I think since he was such a sweetie, you could enroll him a months worth of your "Sweet of the Week" club. Bring him a different sweet each week for a month.
Of course, check if he likes sweets. If he doesnt have a sweet tooth, maybe a casserole each week for a month, homemade bread, muffins, whatever you like to cook.
Housekeeping/cleaning service or a gift card to the local supermarket.
I love Harry and David. They have such great gifts. Our favorite is the Royal Riviera Pears. They are THE best pears. He will love them.
We have several large grocery stores in our area that will make up a wonderful fruit basket that I get great comments on when giving one. You can even tell them what type of fruit you would like to go in it if you like. With fresh fruit being expensive sometimes and so many folks are on a limited budget, it is always a healthy and enjoyed gift.
Food!! A pan of lasagna, a basket of fruit, a pan of chocolate chip cookies, endless possibilities!
Maybe a lovely Bible in large print for his aging eyes? Oh, I like the restaurant idea too. Maybe take him out to dinner or invite him over too, elderly people usually love company.
Sounds like something my dad would do. He's only 65, but is kind-of elderly-like. He'd love a home-cooked meal and/or an ice cold beer or a gift card to the local movie theater or burger-joint.
Could you find out his favorite restaurant and buy him a gift certificate?
If this man mowed your lawn for you all summer he sounds like a good friend. Surely you have some idea what he likes. Get him a gift card or something for his yard. Seems to me someone who would volunteer to mow a lawn is big into yard care.
