We are having my daughter's 1st bday party Aug. 30. What are some good bakeries in the Newport News area? I dont know much about this area but back home there were several little shops and people that made quality cakes. Thanks for any help!!
I know someone who makes specialty cakes out of her home. Basically she can do anything you want - any theme, character, whatever! She does an amazing job. If you are interested, contact me back and I'll give you her info. Her husband works at Langley AFB so she's not too far from you.

I had my baby shower in May and had the most original, delicious cake! It was a "diaper bag" cake and everyone's still talking about it. The cake was made by Shanika Covington of Hampton, VA. I contacted her through her myspace page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.view..., but she now also has a website http://www.couturecakesbynika.com/. Pictures, pricing and flavors are all on her website. The thing I like about her is, she can make anything you ask for! I hope this helps you out!

This one is not in NN, but it is in Hampton. A lot of the bakeries in this area are not very creative. You have to choose from a couple types of cakes. However, if you want something creative and different the lady at The Magic Cupboard does a phenomenal job. I looked everywhere trying to find someone who would do an alligator cake for my son, and she was the only one who would. She did a fantastic job.
we have been very happy with sams club cakes. They are well priced too.
