My best friend just turned 40. We are planning a trip to the beach at the end of this month and I would like to come up with a nice gift to give her. We have been friends since we were 13 so I have bought the jewelry, candles, etc. Does anyone have any unique ideas for a special birthday gift I could get for her?

I see someone advertising blankets. For future reference I do crocheting. I make afghans, pillows, baby afghans, and all kinds of cute little things.
For my best friends 40th( I have three that I have known since I was in elementary school)I made them memory books. I wrote a poem about us on the first page then I started the book with pix of our childhood. I put a remember when page and looked up pix of stuff on the internet to put in the book( smurfs, bands,tv shows.) The look on there faces was priceless. I also got them some of the candy and goodies the loved when we were kids. You could also make a CD of music from that time. Have a blast! J.
Since you know each other for so long there is sure to be lots of memories.
Why not a beautiful memory box to keep them in.
The top of the box could have her favorite saying or
a verse.
I have a good friend that I have known for a long time. When I turned 30 She had given hy husband an envelope to give me that morning. When I opened it there was an appointment card for the spa. When I got there I got a facial and a massage. Then I went to get a manicure and pedicure, she showed up for this part. We enjoyed laughing and talking. THen we went out to lunch. It was a fantastic gift. If you can afford it.
I really love the scrap book idea as well. I have a very close aunt, she is more like a mother to me than my own, and a grandmother to my children. This past Mother's Day she sent me a scrapbook. It had pictures of us together over the past 10 years. Some were very funny. Like us by the pool while our husbands were out golfing. Some were heart warming like when I was a bridesmaid when she got married a few years ago. Some were just us together at other family members wedding. It made me cry. She thanked me for being the daughter she always wanted, but GOd never gave her, she has 3 boys. It is much less expensive. She made hers through snapfish and instead of it getting mailed to her, it came to me. She lives in NJ and me in FL.
If you have been friends for this many years I am sure that she will love anything that she gets from you.
easy a scrapbook! Gather pictures of you two that you have around for all these years and make a fun scrapbook. If i ever get to that age id love it if my best friend did that for me =)

If you've been friends since you were 13, I bet you have some great old photos and home video that could be incorporated into video that we shoot professionally, then edit into a "TV show" about your friend.
