I just moved to the area and was wondering about how much per week most nanny's charge for live in childcare? I've looked on the nanny websites and the range is $350-600 per week. What is a realistic amount for the area.

T., I am not sure how much nanies are going for. I do know, however, that last year, when we were looking at this option, my husband said the range was about$1500-$2000 a month! I thought that was outrageous! I live close to Friendswood but if you ever need babysitting in a pinch let me know. I would be glad to help you out. I am looking to pick up some babysitting over the summer for extra income. I am about to go part time at my job so I can be at home with my kids more during the summer so I thought doing some babysitting at my home might be a good idea. I have 3 children ages 7, 5 and 2. Good lick to you. J.

I recently met with an agency and received a qoute for a reasonable market rate for this area of $350.00 per week, but it was for a live out nanny. This was fulltime for 3 children. I hope this can help.

I live in Friendswood and we, too, looked into hiring a full-time nanny (not live in) for our son who was 1 at the time. Of those we considered, the price was $500-$600/week. That included child care and basic housework (keeping the place neat, no extra cleaning). In the end we just decided that nearly $30k annually was quite expensive and went with a traditional daycare here in Friendswood. Several of my husband's coworkers have hired full time nannies and they pay anywhere from $500-$750/wk.

Good luck, hope this helps!

T.,

We have a full-time nanny to help me with my two boys. I stay at home with them but we still pay $425/week. We looked into the live-in arrangement and just didn't want someone around all the time. When we were considering it, the respectable candidates would have cost us about $600-700 per week including room and board. The ones who didn't speak English very well charged less but I guess it's up to you how much communication you need. Good luck.

By the way, we found our nanny from Caregivers and More. It's just luck that she worked out because we interview many candidates across the board.
