I was going to say the dr pepper lip smackers! Rachel Bilson says she uses it also :) many of the glosses have color to them now, my favorites are from
Loreal.
I normally wear lipstick. I need the color because I'm very fair skinned. It looks like we're in for a very hot summer and I'm thinking of switching to a lip balm or gloss, but need something with a decent amount of color to it (or I just look sickly). I don't want anything too glossy -- I'm 42 and not looking to hit the clubs. Just something lightweight for summer; long-lasting is a bonus. I'm going to Target tomorrow, so recommendations of drug store products only.
Thanks in advance!
I ended up buying the Burt's Bees tinted lip balm in Rose. It is just the right shade -- not too pink, not too brown. I like it so far. Thanks for the recommendation!

I love the Bert's Bees products. They are great for moisturizing plus some color that is not too much but just enough.
I get mine at Target or Market Street
I am also a fan of Burt's Bees products! This is kind of embarrassing, but I also love Lip Smackers Dr. Pepper chapstick. It has just the right amount of color for me.
I like the Burt's Bees tinted lip balms (long thin tubes), particularly the "Watermelon" colored one. I'm a couple years older than you, and they are age appropriate.
Actually, I recommend a lipstain. I use Covergirl Outlast Lipstain. I am also pale, and it's also very hot here! This stuff lasts a very long time. I love the colors. They are awesome!
use a lip liner.
Line and fill in your lips with it.
Then, over that, dab lightly (so that it is not overly gooey)..... whatever brand clear lip gloss you want.
Then blot with a tissue... to lessen the "glossy" of it.
But the color will last this way.
I do this all the time.
It lasts a long time. And much better than lip gloss or lip stick.
(or, if you want a "matte" look... after you blot your lips... lightly apply with a Kleenex, some transparent loose face powder. But shake off the excess powder on the Kleenex first, before blotting your lips with it). This makes the lip color, STAY on, for a long time. Even after eating.
You can use a nude color lip liner, or a more dense color.
And change the color of the lip liner, per where ever you are going or night time versus day time. And because the lip gloss is clear, you can use it with whatever color lip liner you have.
Try a nice berry shade lip liner. That will probably look nice on you.
But natural enough with some color.
The trick is, to use a lip liner first... to line and fill in your lips. Before applying gloss.
This will give you color, that is long lasting.
Or, you can just use the lip liner and line and fill in your lips with it. And that's it. No gloss over it.
That is what I do too.
Because I like a matte, look. But the color lasts and lasts.
But if your lips feel dry... then add just a TAD bit of clear gloss over it... just dabbing ever so slightly (or using your finger tip to put the gloss on). Then blot your lips with a tissue. Or you can even use Chap stick type clear "gloss" on your lips, over the lip liner color.
Just make sure you get something with an SPF!!!
Hi CA-
Burts bees has some 'colour'...if you look in the right places...
The first place I found it was in a barnes & noble. I have not had to look again for a while...(they are pricey, but last)...but maybe walmart has carried some?
They leave lips creamy...with a 'hint' of colour.
Best luck!

My teens have something, it is called baby (i think). I borrowed it today. It has color to it and is a stick. (hard to explain) It is gloss but not the gloppy kind. I can run up and check who makes it if you need me to.
(it was featured in cosmopolitan magazine recently)
EDITED: it is by Maybelline
I dont think there is an age limit on lip gloss, as long as it is worn light and classy :)
I use both Burt's Bees & Almay's tinted lip balm/gloss. Both work really well.
