Swimming lessons and summer camps are not included, but you can go month to month. You can cancel at any time.

We are looking at joining a gym for the summer and I have a few questions about Lifetime before we go check it out. I know that it is a bit more expensive than other gyms so I am just wondering what is included. Are the kids swimming lessons and summer camps part of the monthly membership costs or is this extra? Also can you go month to month or do you have to sign a one year contract? Thanks for any help you can give.

I have a friend that has a Lifetime membership, and at the beginning they did have it include just about everything. Then recently they changed it up and they are charging alla carte (spelling?) She does like it there. I would make a simple phone call before coming in. I'm with the YMCA and absolutely love it. I wouldn't go anywhere else for the money. You can join the YMCA for the family and join the Walnut Creek Country Club for a social membership and still pay less than Lifetime. Just a thought! The only downside to the YMCA - is the limited hours. Otherwise, we have been happy there for the past year. The employees are nice, it's a great environment for family.
I have a membership to lifetime, I pay $60 for me and my 10 month old baby and they will keep him for up to 2 hours at one time which is so good for your own down time. I love the childcare area, they have the nicest people working there and your kids will love it, they have tunnels and it is like there own little jungle gym in there. Any kind of lessons though are unfortunately extra. They have all kinds of family events going on though all the time so it is a family atmosphere. It is month to month basis which I like but they do have to debit your credit card or checking account each month. It is more expensive than your average club but I feel are well worth it, because of all the extra's they have and your kids will love the pool in the summertime. I know you can tour or even work out for free if you just want to go in and check it out but it is like no club you have ever seen. You can say I sent you--C. P.. (BTW, if you come in the am's, my 10 mo would be with your 11 m.o.- and I have a boy also) I am working on getting my degree in education so I can teach. Sounds like we have a lot in common. Would love to meet you :) C. P. ____@____.com
I am a member of Lifetime fitness(Colleyville). I LOVE it! I think it is amazing! The outdoor pool area is great for the hot summers and the child care room is absolutely amazing! My kids actually beg me to go to the gym, which is just an extra motivator.
The instructors for the classes are better than any other gym I have been to.
I love it!
It is a month to month membership. You would have to give notice by June 5th to not pay for July's month.
Child care is really cheap...$6 per kid per month. They do activities with the kids and keep the place VERY clean.
Anyhow...you can see where I stand on this one! ;0)
Good Luck!
Hi A.,
I belong to Lifetime Fitness in Colleyville LOVE it! it is very family oriented, the group fitness classes are awesome and they can afford to pay the instructors a bit more than other places so they attract the best.
A kids' swimming membership is about $10/month, I think and lessons or summer camps are extra. You can go month to month.
Give it a try; I think you will love it! We run into so many other families and kids around the pool, I like to think of it as a country club!

I joined Lifetime about a month ago, and I think it's worth the cost. It is about 130 for a couples membership and 2 kids. For a single membership it is something like 60 per month, and kids are each 6.00 per month. They sometimes have specials to waive the enrollment fee, but the administration fee of about 100.00 is still there.
My kids love it there. They are each allowed to attend two hours per day while you are somewhere on campus...even if you are in the womens locker room lounging on the sofa watching tv the entire time, lol. The kids area has a ton of stuff to do and the worker girls actually interact with the kids, instead of two worker girls sitting down talking to one another (while my kids over hear who knows what.)
I was a member at the Airport YMCA, and I had an okay experience with them.
LT has about 3 times the amount of group aerobics, and 4 times the number of tv's if you are on machines. And I justify the price by using the showers, their towels and blowdryer. It's like being at a super nice 5 star hotel.
I know all that extra is not 'needed' but it make the experience much more desirable and it's much easier to drag myself out of bed in the morning to get myself to go.
Hello A.,
We are members of Lifetime Fitness for about 3 mths now. I love it. My kids (4 and 1)always want to go and play there. So they motivate me when I don't want to go! Even during the busy hours 5-7 you don't have to wait for machines. The cost does not include any lessons. But they do have alot of free classes for you. You really should go and look at it and talk to them and decide it if would be a good fit for your family. If you do join and ever want someone to work out with, let me know.
Good Luck,
M.
Our experiences with LifeTime:
No, No and No. I mean seriously, they charge an outrageous amount for their membership and then it includes nothing! The classes, lessons and camps are all crazy expensive too. With three kids, it would cost me $100+ a month to be a member and then adding just a simple class once a week was like $50+ a child. No thank you. I have no idea about camps, but considering how much classes are, probably a lot.
I dont think there was a year contract, but I dont remember. All I do remeber about that was our "salesman" spitting lies about the special ending that day to get us signed up when I had a postcard at home saying it was good till the end of the month. They dont mail out postcards with wrong information, he just wanted a sale. I cant stand sleazy sales practice and pressuring us, it was like buying a car! Maybe I got a bad rep.
Anyway, we joined the YMCA and love it! Affordable, kids stuff galore at reasonable pricing. No, they dont have all the shiny fixtures, but we are ok with that. They have what we need to work out and the kids have fun.
GL!
We are members of the Mansfield Lifetime Fitness and we have really enjoyed it. It is so much nicer and cleaner than other gyms I have been to. It is true that they have a million ways to try to charge you more through various classes, camps, training, etc. but you don't need to do any of that stuff. They have a zillion free group classes that include spinning, yoga, and pilates, the rock wall climbing is free, the indoor pool (two of them, one especially for kids), spas, steam rooms, sauna's, outdoor pool. The childcare is great - and it's included in your monthly fee. And like everyone else has said, it's month to month. So just try it for a month. If you don't like it, no big deal, drop out of it. We never did though!
