My old kitchen frig has started freezing the food and milk. So now it's time for a new one. I went browsing tonight and stuck on the black or stainless.
Does anyone have a Sampung or LG refrigerator? Do you like it? Those are the only two in our price range but I don't want to buy something that's going to give us problems in a few years.
We already have a half (front door) stainless stove (top is black) and it's an off name brand too. We will be replacing the dishwasher down the road too to one or the other colors above. If any of you have done a mix and max with black and stainless, which ones are which? I don't want to get the wrong one and have it look bad. Also I can't afford the high end appliances so Whillpool etc are out. We looked at Sears and Best Buy so far and found the one's

What can I do next?

Samsung and LG are really good brands. I bought Samsung front loaders two years ago out of every brand out there.

I have a stainless fridge. I will never get stainless steel ever again. It always has fingerprints on it. So since I was pulling away from stainless I got the JennAir duel fuel in black which has a stainless handle. Kinda pulled them together. Since the sale was good I also bought the Whirlpool dishwasher in black. It seems to work. I did pay extra for the stainless steel interior in the dishwasher because I can't stand how the plastic absorbs odors from the food on the dishes.

I just noticed I am rambling, a side effect of tired, sorry. I hope the info you need is in there somewhere. Oh the fridge is a Kenmore. I am pleased with all my appliances. Even the cat, he finally shut up. :)

Oh, around here they have a Sears outlet. That was where we got the fridge. It was regular around $1,900 but we got it for $1,0??. I can't remember the exact number. All because it had a little ding in the front. Like my kids weren't going to ding the darn thing on their own, and they did.

I think for selling (in the future) purposes, you should try to match all your kitchen appliances (same brand and same colors will be ideal), kitchens and baths are important facts when selling.
You may don't think on sale now but for me is something I would keep on mind.

I second the suggestion to check out the sears outlet if you are near one. We bought most of our stuff at the regular Sears when they had a big friends and family appliance sale which they have a couple times a year - watch for it, I think we got ours in November. Anyway, we got all Frigidaire gallery stainless at Sears except the fridge which is a GE profile at the Sears outlet.

before this we had frigidaire and kenmore appliances and never had a problem with them.

Good luck! New appliances are exciting!

I am not happy at all with my LG appliances! I have LG fridge and dishwasher. At the time, we bought the biggest, most expensive stainless LG fridge there was, the water line sucks, you can only get like 3 or 4 cups of ice out of the ice maker. Its just very disappointing. The LG people are even jerks. We bought warranties, and when my 6 month old dishwasher started being pyscho, I called and had someone look at it. He said there was nothing wrong with it (even though it was whisper quiet and now sounds like a freight train) AND he said if they dont find a problem with it hey are supposed to charge me $170 for coming out!!!!! Really??? Whats a warranty for?????? Im speechless. Lesson learned!

We bought all Kenmore (Elite) appliances for our kitchen, except for the dishwasher. That is a Bosch.

We went with Stainless steel and I love it. Kenmore didn't have a totally stainless fridge when we bought ours (the freezer on the bottom/french door top was just getting popular and they didn't have all stainless yet). The doors are stainless. The door handles and the sides (which are recessed into my cabinetry so I don't care) are black. But I have a slide in stove, which is stainless..except the control panel. The cook surface is black. My microwave is stainless too, but the door front has that black "surface", and the button area is black also. My dishwasher, is ALL stainless. My countertops are granite, and are a very very dark speckled green that looks almost black. So the black parts of my appliances blend very well.

I have never had a problem with any of my Kenmore appliances (I've only bought the higher end products from their line, never the cheapest thing they sell though), and would've bought a Kenmore dishwasher too, except I really really wanted the quietness of the Bosch, which they are known for. The kenmore I would have ended up buying instead would have cost just as much, so I got the Bosch. It's not like you can see the name label on it anyway...all the controls are under the counter.

I know that our builder generally installed Frigidaire products as his "standard" for spec homes. And he was a relatively good quality builder, too. So they are probably okay. We just got a really good deal at Sears (buy an appliance on your Sears card get a % back... when you got up to 3, the percentage went to 20%... so we got a rebate check around $900 from them....it paid for my dishwasher!)

Don't get the smooth black one by whirlpool. It scratches with a plain kitchen dishrag.

We got a Samsung refrigerator when we moved into our house almost 6 years ago. We've never had any problems with it at all. The one we got is a bottom freezer model stainless look, but not true stainless- love it because it doesn't show fingerprints :) We've got 4 kids under 12, so that was a huge plus for us. Also you can lock the temp where you want it so the kiddos don't change it on you.

Stainless is of course very popular right now, but it doesn't look right in every kitchen. My mother got a new stainless range before they remodeled their kitchen. The kitchen looked a little dated before (80's), but it looked horrible once the new stove was there! Everything looked so shabby. Black is a nice alternative.

I went on Best Buy's website, though, and found some negative reviews of Samsungs. I think brands have good years and not so good years sometimes. I think the best thing is to read review on websites like Best Buy, and I've always liked Consumer Reports too. The more information you get, the better.
Good Luck :)
