We are inundated with mosquitoes her. My solution to the bites is to first wash them, using rubbing alcohol if possible (hand sanitizer is good), then use caladryl on the bites. It's made of benadryl and calamine. Sometimes taking oral benadryl is necessary, but if I clean the area soon enough I don't need it.

Another option that works if you don't have caladryl on hand is a paste of baking soda and aloe.

Try vinegar. It seems to work for everything else!

Benedryl - fine at night since it makes me sleepy.
Claritin (or another non drowsy antihistamine) works too - although for me Benedryl works better.
I've tried topical Benedryl gel and spray but it doesn't seem to keep the itching away for very long.
You can put a paste of baking soda or epsom salts on it to reduce itching.
Some people swear by meat tenderizer.

A friend of mine was always a bug magnet, they absolutely loved her. She would use regular Listerine and swore it worked. Also, I have used aloe since we usually have some to sooth too much sun in the summer. I keep it in the fridge. Not sure if it is the cold or the actual aloe that helps calm the itch.

I am a human bug magnet. They all love me - mosquitos, May flies, you name it.

If I have nothing else, I use anti-itch cream (like hydrocortisone) but don't rub it on the bite, which increases the itch. I put the cream on a bandaid, then put the bandaid over the biggest bites so it holds the cream in place - I find more is absorbed and nothing rubs off on clothes, bedding, etc. It also prevents scratching.

During the day, a paste of baking soda/water can help. I use a natural anti-inflammatory and actually open the capsule and make a paste with the powder. That works better than anything because it has healing properties as well as anti-inflammatory ones. If I have to go somewhere or if the bite is in a place where it will rub off (like on the back of my thigh), then I top it with a bandaid. That also keeps the paste moist so it doesn't dry out.

Topical hydrocortisone cream and Benedryl if the reaction to the bite is problematic.

I like lavender and peppermint essential oils.

Mine are typically not bad enough for Benedryl or Cort-Aid.

Half a dose of liquid Benadryl. Might even be good for a quarter dose. It only needs to be enough to stop the itching. Not enough to fight off an allergic reaction.

My friend swells/itches from bug bites - she uses Benedryl. She's a nurse and that's the best thing she's found.
