we lived very close to both. I have never been to legoland, but my kids LOVE sea world! We had passes and would go ALL the time. It never got boring
Should we go to Legoland OR Seaworld for this age group? and why? We're planning to go to Disneyland next week and wanted to try out Legoland but wasn't sure if seaworld was better for my young kids. Thanks!
ThaNk you all for your advices and experiences. We decided to go to Disneyland and Legoland. Legoland because we have not experience it as adults and our friends with kids were going too. Last minute decision, due to a spare day and kids doing well, went to seaworld too! Having experience all three for this age group, they were all fine for our two adventurous girls but if i had o make a decision, it would be disneyland, seaworld, than legoland. We had agreat time on all though. I'd have to add that a day and half at Huntington beach was awesome to relax in between theme parks.

I think it depends on your kids. Mine are all about the animals (ages 5 & 20 years) plus Sea World has rides. Some kids (especially boys) might prefer Legoland.
We did Disneyland and Legoland last year with our kids (who were eight and five). Legoland has a lot for little kids. When you first get in, there's a big sandbox on the left. I think our kids would have spent all day there if they could. You dig for "dinosaur skeletons" in there. They had so much fun and younger kids were also having a great time! A lot of activities there for young kids, not to mention, a lot of bathrooms (you'll appreciate this after Disneyland) and a lot of variety to eating areas.
LEGOLAND!!! Sorry for screaming but my boys and I love Legoland and we went every year til they were well into their teens. Sea World is just so-so in my book, although little kids might like the animal shows. If you are going to Disneyland, I think you would really enjoy Legoland afterwards. It's quieter, relaxing, uncrowded mid-week off-season, just all around laid back. Plus, the food is better. ;o)
If your smaller one is at least 36", I'd recommend Legoland. Otherwise, Sea World will be more fun. There are only a couple of rides you can do at Legoland if you're under 36." There is absolutely nothing to ride if you're under 34."
I would say Sea World. Legoland is very strict about their height/age requirements for rides. I believe 36 inches is kind of the magic height for them to go on most of the rides there. Unless your younger one is tall for his/her age, there will be many rides that your 4-y.o. will be able to go on that your 2-y.o. will not. And I mean at all, even with a parent. Depending on your 2-y.o., that might end up being a significant source of frustration.
Also, it will depend what time of the week/year you are planning on going. If you are going at any time where there is likely to be a crowd (weekends or school vacations), then for sure go to Sea World. Legoland is terrible about moving people through their lines. It's like they think that, since they have legos for the kids to play with while they wait, it doesn't matter how slow the line is. But I have legos at home! I don't need to go to a $70 theme park to have my kids play with them.
That being said, we have Legoland passes for my 5-y.o. now, but mostly so we can go in the middle of the week, off season. When he was younger, we had Sea World passes. In my opinion, Sea World is a lot easier with really little ones.
Seaworld is great, but it's more like a zoo with live shows.
Legoland has activities for kids of all ages, including toddlers, and LOTS of rides.
It depends on your kids but I would think Legoland to be MUCH more worthwhile, my son and both my daughters loved it, we went there twice several years ago, once when they were your kids' ages, and again about four years later :)
We went to both with our 5 year old son over the Christmas break... My son would say Sea World... Legoland is fun, but you can only look at so many lego things before kids will start to get bored... The rides are pretty good for that age (not for the 2 year old)..
If your kids like animals, I definitely say Sea World!
How about the San Diego zoo instead? We took our girls when they were 2 and again at 4 and they LOVED LOVED LOVED it. We thought Seaword and Legoland were both great - but better suited to older kids who could do more.
We have done both. I took the kids to Seaworld from when they were babies until about age 5ish. Seaworld has an age appropriate amusement park area and tons of shows. The shows are not in the shade and there is a wait for them . I think it is fine.
My kids, now 5 and 8 say that they like Legoland better than Disneyland. I personally, as an adult do not like Legoland at all. There are super long lines for super lame rides (which are totally kid friendly). I love the water playground and the fortress playground. They have fun shows too. You can get "kids get in free" tickets. They have tons of age appropriate rides. You should walk in and go to the left when you enter for the younger kids. They also have a water park which is also more appropriate for kids. Not much for the adults though.
I love Disneyland because it is the whole package. You can get a stroller pass so you and your other adult can go on Space Mountain and then you meet them at the exit and just walk right on. It is a super nice feature for parents of small ones. Everybody gets to have fun.
I don't think you can go wrong with either Seaworld or Legoland.
Legoland is more fun and exciting, and my boys are crazy about lego and building machines and things like that, so they are bent on going to Legoland at least once during the holidays. But Seaworld is more educational and a great experience for kids. Both are equally good choices (assuming your 2 yr old is tall enough for the rides in Legoland), but since you mentioned that you are going to Disneyland next week, why not go to Seaworld? You'll be going on the rides at Disneyland anyway.
