Good Morning My Mamas,
I need a new couch and would like to get a leather couch. since I've been looking ,I've found a huge price difference in something called "Bonded Leather" or "Eco-Leather" (witch is a mix of leather and polyester material) compared to real leather. Does anyone have 1 of these types of leather couches and can tell me if they hold up as well to a real leather couch? Thank you every one and have a great week.

What can I do next?

We have real leather. It is easy to keep clean and I woul have nothing else!

We have 3 dogs, no scratches.

We have 3 leather sets... formal area has a custom made set from Leather Sofa Company..... we LOVE it and use it, no dogs in that area.

Family room is a Natuzzi set that still looks great, we bought it in 2000

Game room has a Natuzzi sofa that still looks great and it is at least 17 yrs old.

My dog gets on our couches so we have tons of scratches on our bonded leather. I had real leather where we sat "leather touch" and vinyl on the back of our previous set. It lasted 12 years.

Well I know this doesn't answer your question, but we have all leather furniture in our house. It's about 6 years old now and is weathering beautifully, like your fave leather jacket. We have Golden Retrievers (yes, on the furniture) and three teenagers and no one has been able to injure it yet.

My only regret is I didn't have it during the SPILL EVERYTHING ON THE FUNITURE days, think of it, no stains, EVER, just wipe with a damp cloth so it's not sticky!

So really, if there's not much price difference....

:)

I have a Bonded Leather loveseat that was ruined by the cats claws. Also, a large hole that someone with keys in their pocket punctured it. We have a quilt over it now, but if you have small children watch out punctures from toys, etc.

Sorry, I don't know anyone with an Eco-leather to offer any helpful hints.

I don't know the terms used but have a friend who has a sofa that has leather where you sit and vinyl on the side in between the pillows. The stitching between is starting to pull apart on the vinyl after just 2 years whereas my completely leather sofa has held up beautifully for the last 8 years, with toddlers, spills, jumping and a lot of love.

If you can buy all leather. In the long run it's worth every cent.
