yes, my girls got their first leapster when they were two. now they're six and they still play with it, esp. when traveling. i am delaying getting nintendo DS because leapster is so educational.
If your kids have a Leapster 2 -- what do you think about it? I'm thinking of getting one for my 3 1/2 year old daughter, who already has good computer skills and uses the apps on her dad's iPhone like a pro! In a few weeks we're going on a road trip and I was thinking the Leapster 2 would be an excellent educational toy to keep her busy. She already has the Tag reading system and loves it, so I'm hoping the Leapster 2 is just as enjoyable for kids. Your thoughts?
Well the positive feedback was so overwhelming that I ordered the Leapster 2! BTW . . . great deal offered through the Leapfrog website using code FFJUNE25, for 25% off. Plus free shipping on orders over $40. So I ordered the Leapster 2 and the carrying case for a total cost of $55 (the original cost of each item was $49.99 and $17.99). Now I'm going to Toys R Us to use the coupon for $5 off any Leapster game (got it through coupons.com).

My 5 yr old son got one from Santa last year and he LOVES it!!! He is always carrying it around and taking it in the car etc...It is really great!!
My son got his when he was 4 and now his 3 yo brother can't put it down. While it is a fight between the two, we really like it and would strongly suggest purchasing it.
Also, if you go to coupondiva.com or coupons.com there is a coupon for $5 off leapster games and there could even be a $10 to $15 off a system. I usally skip over those because we have one.
My son is 5 and has had his for a couple of years , he has the tag system as well. He loves both.
Our son will be 4 tomorrow - we got him one for Christmas, and he loves it. The games are pretty basic, but he loves the coloring options the best.
He plays with his Dad's Droid and loves the apps. Both he and a 4.5 year-old we see at his sister's dance class usually come with their Leapsters and have fun playing them.
We drove back from Hilton Head last Saturday (800 mile trip), and he got sick twice. We don't know if it was car sickness from the Leapster or a little bug, but he had fun playing it all week and in the car.
I'd personally recommend it as long as you keep expectations in check. It's nowhere near the complexity of the graphics as you have on iPhone or XBox, but they don't seem to notice too much.
DO IT!!! My son got one for Christmas from Santa, and he LOVES his Leapster 2! He can easily play most of the games, but they are still challenging enough to keep him occupied and busy. I love it because we can take it anywhere with us, and it keeps him entertained. I seriously take it to the mall so I can shop in peace, on long car trips, and even if I need to get some work done around the house...there it is! The one thing I would say is that you do need to invest in some of the games. He can play some of them for extended periods of time (The Princess and the Frog is one of them), but others he will only play with for 30 minutes and be "done" with it for now. I HIGHLY recommend them!
P.S. It does eat up some batteries (4 for every 10 hour of play maybe) so make sure you either use rechargeable or you keep a fairly hefty supply
My kids (7 & 3 1/2) have one & they love it. I need to find games that are a little more challenging for my oldest, but my youngest loves to play it. It's a great game for learning & keeping them occupied on a long trip.
