Hello. For my son's 3rd birthday I bought him the "Leap Frog Click Start My First Computer". He loves playing it. My question is to those moms who have experience with this system. I went to help him use it b/c he was having problems and discovered that it is really hard to control the mouse. Did anyone else notice this? I don't know if it is a design flaw or if there is something wrong with the one he has; and maybe I should return it. I got a little frustrated trying to work it! lol Any input would be great. Thanks.

Keisha,

I noticed the same thing with the mouse in our system (my 4 y/o was given it for Christmas). I am going to try the things the last poster gave, but think it may just be the design. It keeps sticking in one place, and my girls pick it up off the pad and try again (works abt 50% of the time). I also see them rolling the thing around and banging it on the mouse pad like adults having the same issue with their mouses :o) Some things just seem to be natural - like shaking something with batteries in it to make it work .

Good luck.

S.

The mouse and keyboard work on infared communication (OK, I just made that up, but if it's not that, it's something like that.) Whenever my son is having trouble with the mouse, it's because he's holding the keyboard with his hand over the top front of it, which is where the sensors are that go out. We've also had problems when there is something directly inbetween the keyboard and the main consule. If the pathway is completely clear, the casings are clean, and it is still not working, it could be a flaw in your machine. The mouse does not work as well as a real mouse, and it's just a small pad, but it for the most part should get the job done on the games. Good luck with your machine!

I don't have experience with this system in particualr , but my son had basically the same thing but a VTECH when he was that age and the mouse was also hard to use , also my 2 eldest both have Leapfrog leapsters and some games require them to use the buttons rather than the pen and this is also quite hard so my guess is that it's the design rather than a fault with your console.

My four year old got one for Christmas and has been having mouse issues as well. I almost wanted to throw the thing against a wall. Make sure there is nothing around the sensors (someone else suggested this). We also got a diffrent and larger mouse-pad and it seemed to help. If all else fails shut it all down and re-start it.
