We found using the next size up seemed to help. I think the larager diapers have a bit more liquid capacity. We use Huggies (not the Supremes). We use the bigger size at night, and the size down the rest of the day. Has worked fairly well.
My 11 month old son is a belly sleeper. He goes to bed with a fresh diaper and when he wakes up in the morning he is soaked through. We have used Pampers and are now trying Luvs, but haven't had much change. Any suggestions on what to do different? Are there any other diapers out there that work better at keeping him drier at night?
Thank you for all the wonderful advice. I went with the majority and tried the Huggies Overnights. It has only been a few nights, but so far so good!!!! Thanks again!

I have a 21 month old boy, but we started using Night Time Pullups since he was about 7 months old. Just recently I also stopped giving him milk/juice/water after dinner.
I have tried huggies night time diapers. I couldn't really tell if they were any more absorbant except the fact that my son's pajamas were not wet. THere are many night time "GoodNights" but they are too big for this young of children. Good luck!
I also recommend the Huggies overnight diaper. My daughter wears pampers cruisers during the day & then the huggies overnight diaper to bed. It works great!
I'm also going to suggest the Huggies Overnight diapers. Also, even if it's a little bit of a struggle get the tapes on the diaper touching in the middle of the diaper. This may be a little uncomfortable for your son at the beginning of the night (although, my son has never fussed). But, don't worry because a babies' waist shrinks upto an inch overnight. So you see if you put it to wear it's comfortable when you put him down for the night and then his waist shrinks and the diaper is way too loose on him and then the pee will shoot right out of the diaper! Also, I know this may sound weird but I use to stick my finger in his diaper after I had it on him and made sure his wee wee was pointing down. The reason why I started doing that was because he'd leak but there wasn't much pee in the actual diaper. So I figured there must have been some nights where he had to kind of go or had to go right after I put his diaper on and therefore his wee wee was point up and that's where his wee wee would stay for the whole night.
We also had to get overnight diapers for my oldest. he could leak through the regular ones in a matter of hours.
For my youngest, I check his diaper before I go to bed and change him if he's already soggy. He's usually asleep enough that it doesn't disturb him much and he goes right back to sleep after.
Huggies overnights...need I saw more! You will be amazed at how much those diapers can hold. If you wait until Target has them on sale, and than have the $1.00 or $1.50 off coupon you can use a coupon per package, its much cheaper than buying the larger pack (some amount for the two small packs at TArget) at Walmart. Try them out, you'll be happy you did.
Hi A.,
We always used Huggies brand when our kids were little. With our son we used to tuck the tummy side fold inward so that if he did have to go, the fold would catch anything that leaked out. Hope that made sense.
J.
I would agree with just about everyone. I have two little boys and we found the best results with "tucking" their little boys parts and using Huggies Overnights. Good luck!
we use pampers crusiers, I haven't had a problem with that kind as opposed to the regular papmpers.
We use Huggies Overnights as well. One size up from daytime size. You could also try putting maxi-pads inside the diaper. They have a sticky side that will keep them in place. I haven't tried it, but I have heard it works.
When our youngest was in diapers, we used Huggies. We tried the other ones and for some reason they would leak. I would contact the company and tell them and maybe they will send you coupons on their products that you can use.
I agree - Huggies Overnights (purple package) are awesome!
Just like the other poster, when our two start peeing through at night, we move up a size for night sleeping.
I don't have little boys but my friend does. She said that she had to make sure that his little peepee was pointing down and not up. She said it helped with accidents like that.
My 8 month old is a tummy sleeper and we are having the same problem. I tried going up a size with no luck, I tried two diapers with no luck so now we are using Huggies goodnights or overnights (I can't remember which one). It is better then anything else we have tried but I still get a leaky one about once a week.
I would use a diaper 1 size bigger than you do durning the day and use Huggies night diapers, they work great.
Aha!! I *can* answer this one!! We went through the same thing. I tried every diaper out there Until I stumbled upon.. Huggies Night time Diapers. They are thicker and my daughter doesn't leak anymore!!! They cost about $10 for a pack of 30 or so but if you figure you are only using them at night - it's only $10/month for them! They work wonders and I wish it wouldn't have taken so many sopping nights to figure it out!
Good luck!
Welcome to the life of a little boy. We too had this problem and I highly recommend "Huggies Overnights"; they come are not sold every where, but really did the trick for us.
Double up! I use cloth, but I would assume that the same is true for disposables - a double layer of protection would work better. If your son wakes up at night, change him.
I just had this problem! It's so frustrating when you buy the expensive diapers and they leak! I went up a size just for the night time. They are really big on my daughter but they are working great. (I have always just used the pampers as my daughter had a reaction to the cheap/ store brands)
Huggies makes an overnight diaper. It's the only thing that keeps my daughter dry. I buy them at Wal-Mart and I haven't seen them at Target.
Huggies Overnights are the only one I've found that do the job! If he really fills it, buy up one size.

Hi, i had the same problem with my son, i just switched to white clouds, there cheaper and they seemed to work. Give it a try.

A simple and less expensive choice would be to get rubber pants like what you use with cloth diapers. These you can wash and not have to buy special diapers. Just put them over the diaper of choice. It will keep the bed and pj's dry at least.
My son is a belly sleeper too and we have had very good luck with Huggies. Luvs worked for ok wettness but he had a terrible reaction to something in the diaper. He got horrible blisters and the whole area covered by the diaper turned red.
Pampers did not work at all.
Good Luck!
R.
Huggies makes a special "nighttime" diaper, or at least they used to.
I have a two year old son and he too is a belly sleeper, we have always used Huggies and have only had a wet through a couple of times. We also started using the Huggies night-time and they are a lot more absorbant! I get coupons in the mail all the time, so that helps cut down on a price too! Good Luck!
hi the same thing used to happen with my 2 boys and sometimes still does with my youngest. Try to make his drink at dinner the last big drink he has and then stop drinks all together about 1 hour before bed. that is what works for me. good luck!!
My son has always been a belly sleeper as well and we have found that Huggies work the best for not soaking through. When he gets close to the weight limit, or has passed the beginning weight on the next size we have used those at night and slowly made the transition to bigger size that way.
We had/have the same problem. We started using a lager size diaper at night & rarely have probelms with leaking any more.
Huggies supreme worked the best for me I had the same problem my little guy still sleeps on his tummy and he will be 6 on the 29th
I agree with Sara F....go one size larger for at night and make sure that his peepee is pointing down. That should help. My son had the same problem. Good Luck!!! :)
I have a 16 month old son that had the same problem. Every morning we'd pick him up off his tummy and his whole tummy was soaked...sometimes all the way up to his chest! I tried several different brands and have REALLY had success with HUGGIES OVERNITES! I get one size bigger that what he wears during the day. He has not leaked yet!
We went through the same thing with our son also. We started using the next size up for him at night. We didn't have any problems after that. Good luck
Hi A.
The same thing happened to me with my son. Just try to move up a size. That worked for us. My son is 9m he wears size 3 during the day and size 4 at night. He hasn't woke up with wet pj's since. Hope this helps.
good luck H.
Huggies has a diper called nightime Huggies and they work great at night time!! I have used them on both of my boys with sucess. I just wish they went to size 6.
When this happened to us, we found every time it was time for a larger sized diaper. I didn't find pampers, luvs or huggies to hold any better, but that's just me. The only idea I have in addition may be to try the huggies overnight style diapers that are thicker. Also, pull ups are an option overnight as well, pending size your son is in now.
If changing the diaper brand doesn't work, try putting a pair of potty training underwear, or a plastic that goes over a cloth diaper, over his diaper. If all else fails, buy a plastic sheet to put over the mattress. Sounds like he does most of his urinating at night. this may change as he gets older too. you may need to consider setting your alarm clock and changing him halfway through the night. and make sure he doesn't have a bottle in bed with him at night. Liquids should be cut off two hours before bedtime. good luck.

We had that problem with our son as well... You can try Huggies Overnites- but I don't think they come smaller than a size 3. Another idea is to get his diapers one size bigger and double up with the bigger diaper over his regular size. Good luck!
We use the Huggies supreme and fasten them so there's more diaper in the front or fasten them really low and put a pull-up over it. The latter is what we do now for mine are much bigger now.

My son had the same problem and a friend recommended Huggies Overnights. Since switching, we've had fewer soaked mornings. He's 14 months old now and I've been using them since he was 9 months old. He still takes a 6oz bottle right before bed and has some wet mornings, but nothing like before we switched.
Try Huggies overnights or try a diaper one size larger which should hold more.
I have the same problem with my 11 month old son. We originally used Pampers Cruisers, but switched to Huggies Overnites with little luck. They were actually worse than the Pampers! The kind that I've had the most luck with are Pampers Baby Dry. He still wakes up wet once in a while, but for the most part the Pampers Baby Dry are doing the trick. Good luck!
I agree with those who mentioned cloth. It is CHEAPER (especially if you use them for more than one child), better for the environment, better for BABY, soft and comfortable, and not much more difficult than disposables - the difference between velcro and tying a shoe (takes a few extra seconds) plus a couple loads of laundry per week. Here's a guide to help pick what would work best for you: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/200622/cloth_dia.... The best for nighttime, in my opinion, is Fuzzibunz - they are a pocket diaper that you can stuff with as much absorbancy as they need. Diaper doublers, also fore-mentioned, are awesome to stuff the fuzzibunz with along with a prefold (also fore-mentioned by another poster). Here's a good cheaper place to buy cloth: http://www.juliestuff.com/pages/ClothDiapers.html. Hope you figure out a good solution that works for you!
you've gotten a lot of great advice. I have one thing to add in addition to going up a size for bedtime, be sure to aim him south. It helps to have the pee flow going down rather than up... It worked with our two year old son.
try the huggies over night they seem to work for me. my boy would wake not soaked, also try to limit fluid intake two to three hrs. before bed.
I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who used to have the same problem. Pampers hold ALOT of urine and she would leak every night. She would drink alot during the day and we would limit her intake in the evenings but it just came down to us changing her diaper in the middle of the night. If one of you happens to wake up to go to the bathroom or just roll over, you may want to get up to check if the diaper is close to full and change it. This lasted almost a year for us and she is fully potty trained now and isn't even 3 yet. I don't think the type of diaper you buy will make a difference, or cutting off their drinking at a certain time helps much either, because their bodies are busy and their bladders are small. So much for being able to sleep all night, hope this helps.
We went through the same thing with our son and we went to using huggies overnights and we haven't had a leak through since we started using them. I have been only able to find them at target. Hope this works
S.
My son, also a belly sleeper, began soaking his diapers at about the same age at night. This lasted until he started potty training last November. (He was three.) Nothing worked. No diapers would hold up...we restricted liquids, we tried everything. The only thing that worked was my husband would wake up and change him around 2 a.m. every night. It was truly a labor of love, but it was either change him at night, or change his sheets every morning. We spent two years doing this...hope you find something that works, but be prepared for late night changes! Good luck!
Hi A.
I had that same problem with my son last month. He is also a stomach sleeper and would pee through his diaper every night. What we did was put him in the next size lager diaper. We have not had that problem since. I hope you find something that works.
I have 2 year old twin boys. They leaked through their diapers at night and we finally did find a diaper that worked for the overnight hours. We buy the Huggies Overnites. They do not leak through anymore. They are kind of expensive but it beats changing sheets and giving baths every single morning. I hope this helps you.
I used dry bottoms - one of the cheapest diapers you can buy! They are at Wal-Mart and we never had leaks. I tried switching a couple of times to a "better" brand like Huggies or Luvs or Pampers and often times we had leaks. I'm not a sales person for them. They were just recommended to me by a friend and I thought she was crazy. But you'll have 2 testomonies here that they were the best for leaks!
I like the Huggies Overnites. Every so often we might have a "leaker", but it's the best one that I have found for my 12 mos. old. We started the Overnites when he was around 10 mos, and obviously only use them at night. Good Luck!!!
I agree....HELP! My 19 mo. old does the same thing, although I try and limit fluids before bedtime. Gordi is over 3 feet tall and weighs 35 lbs. (on or about the 100th percentile on EVERYTHING). Wears size "6" diapers, which (I think is the biggest size). Now what?????
J.
We've used the next size bigger diaper for the night time and have noticed much improvement.
Good luck
When my kids were little I would rip a hole in the plastic, put diaper on then add a second diaper on top to have double the diaper to catch the excess fluids. I did this with all three of my kids and then also with my grand daughter. Pampers and such weren't as good then as they are now. Hope this helps.
We had the same problem when my son was young and someone suggested to me to use "doublers", it's a product you add to their regular diaper. It looks like a big maxi pad without the sticky side. I could only find them at one place then which was Osco now CVS.
Good Luck.
We were having teh same problem until we switched to Huggies Overnites . They seem to work well. Good Luck
I normally hate huggies but they make Goodnite diapers with buzz lightyear on them and our son never leaks in them. he was also a chronic leaker, we always just bought bigger diapers when this sttarted happening, while this worked it is easier to buy the goodnites for bedtime. Hope this helps, i think they only come in toddler sizes but I don't see any reason they would not fit an 11 month old!
Huggies and Huggies overnight :)
Defenetly try Huggies Overnights. i do not put my son to bed with out them... yes they are a little more money but it keeps us from my son waiking us up and keeping him somewhat dry. i tryed all of the diapers, pampers, white cloud, target brand, regular huggies. so these are the best...
also the smallest diaper # for Huggies overnights is #4. but it will work for your 11 month old... trust me..
I have used (for my other children and currently), and swear by, Huggies Overnights. My 10 month old is a heavy night-time wetter, and I have used them for several months. They seem to absorb more than any of the other diapers. I use Luvs during the day and that works great, but for nighttime...try the Huggies. They are such a God send! Hope this helps.

Hi! We make sure to not feed our son too close to bedtime. We use the target brand diapers at night and he is about to turn 11 months. We don't have problems with leaking. Even if I use my cloth diapers at night he doesn't leak. I nurse him one last time about an hour before his bedtime 8-9PM. We do a diaper change after like half an hour after feeding and finish the rest of his bedtime routine. You could feed liquids earlier say 6pm, then do the solids and have baby asleep by 8. If baby doesn't sleep through the night yet this could help as well. Good luck!
I to have had the same problems and found Huggies makes a nightime diaper. (more absorbent than regular) they are called Huggies overnights and they come in a purple pack. I have only found them in a size 3 and up. We also use these when we travel long distances for a little extra leakage protection. Hope this helps.
Huggies Overnights are the only thing that keep my son's bed dry - he's now 2 1/2. They are available at Target and I always buy when on sale and with a Huggies coupon.
We use huggies overnight diapers. I think they start at size 4. We also started putting the diapers on higher in the front because our son would always be soaked in the front or on his side and that seemed to help. He still soaks through once in a while but not like he used to.
Both of my boys had the same problem. We discovered Huggies "overnight" diapers. They work great! You may want to use a size that is even a bit bigger than his normal diaper for extra absorbency. They can be a little bit pricier but well worth it if you're not washing sheets every morning. Good luck.

I have two girls (7 and 5) and with them we used Pampers or White Cloud. Then I had a son and discovered these previously great and efficient diapers were not working with him. We have now tried Huggies with him and they work great (at least a lot better). Anatomy is totally different and diapers that work on girls often do not work well on little boys. Hope this helps. He is now two and we have transitioned to Luvs and I find them to be mostly equivalent to Huggies and a 1/3 of the price. BTW, Parents Choice were horrible for us.
I had that problem with my daughter and was never able to find a diaper that worked, but when I put long, thick cloth pad inside the disposable diaper just before bed, it resolved the leaking trouble. I got mine from babybunz.com and they are called "diaper doublers."
My sons are 18 months now and we had the same problem. I found that using 1 size larger diapers at night along with rubber pants works wonders. I found Gerber rubber pants at Walmart for 6 it was like $5, the best investment I could of made. Good luck.
My daughter did the same thing. Although I loved Pampers, the Huggies Night Night dipars did the trick. Good luck...
I second the use cloth, but the prior poster didn't mention that cloth diapers aren't the cloth diapers everyone is used to. We use diaper covers (NOT plastic pants) that are soft and keep my son from leaking (Thirsties covers are what we use, and they can be used more than once before washing) with prefolds (greenmountaindiapers.com Cloth eeze prefolds) snappied on (no pins!). If your son is such a heavy wetter at night, you can use a cloth doubler (someone already suggested this, but I'm going to suggest a better way), you just put it in the cover with the prefold and *poof* all done. Cloth can be just as easy as disposables, and they only had a few extra loads of laundry a week (and easy loads too, because they don't have to be folded).
If
Try cloth - they are bulkier and absorb more. You can use a diaper service - available everywhere. Diaper covers also exist to make them more colorful and easier to use without pins.
I used cloth for 5 years between two kids. They work great, are soft and gentle, are better for the environment and are enormously absorbent.
Huggies Overnights were the only diapers that worked for my kids at night.
Huggies makes a great night time diaper!!
I also want to give props to Huggies Overnights. Used them on both of my boys starting at about 6 months old. I think I also often had to use a size bigger for bedtime. You can get them at Target and Babies R Us. Cub and Rainbow sometimes have select sizes, too.
We have always used the walmart white cloud brand and to me they work really well. We don't have any leaking problems, unless they are getting too small. They are stretchy and and seem comfortable for my son.
I think the most important point to make here is that for lack of a better way to put it, make sure his package is pointing south. Boys tend to pee through at night because we tend to not "adjust" when we diaper them. Hook one side of the diaper and then adjust him and hook the other side. This works like a charm. Also, make sure you are using a large enough diaper and that you are fastening it tight enough.
Good luck!
