Leaky Diaper

I have been using Pampers Swaddlers with my daughter for the past 6 months, all of a sudden she has started to leak through them during the night. She sleeps a 12 hour cycle and gets up at 10:00 and 4:00 for a bottle still b/c she is not a big eater. Can anyone recommend a diaper that last for more than 6 hours? I have begun changing her 2 times in the night now. Even if I skip the 10:00 feeding, she still leaks.

What can I do next?

I had that problem with my son. Huggies Supreme! No more leaks. He would wake once in the night and I would change him then. They worked very well for us.
Glad she's a good little sleeper. :~)

I agree with Caryn; moving up a size may solve your problem. We also use Luvs, which has a "leak gaurd guarantee". All diapers leak at some point or another, though. Just a fact of life when you have a baby!

I just asked a similar question on an other board. They told me to put my son in a bigger diaper at night. Her usually wears a 4 so at night he wears a 5. It worked. It is worth a shot! Also, you can still find those plastic covers but that just keeps her clothes from getting wet, not her from getting soaked.

The bigger diaper worked. We just keep a few in his pj drawer and put them on at bed time. Let me know what you find that works.

It's going to sound crazy, but my daughter is almost 20 months old. I had the same problem with several diapers leaking during the night. I thought I had tried them all until I went to Kmart one day. They sell a generic brand, I'm not even sure what they're called - maybe Little Ones - they're in a purple box. Her diaper hasn't leaked since. They're cheaper than Pampers, Luvs and most any other diaper. Try them, hopefully they'll work as well for you!

While the other suggestions will help some now (going up a size, changing brands, etc.) you are probably just fortunate to have a child who pees large quantities like 2 or 3 times a night (3 or 4 hours after she first goes down, then maybe 4-6 hours after that, or perhaps she waits until right before waking in the morning) instead of one who pees every hour or so. Babies are born knowing when they're hungry and when they have to pee - you could capitalize on her natural rhythms, save tons of money in diapers, understand her even better, and have her out of diapers way earlier than most kids in our culture by simply offering her the potty right before she takes her bottle and again right after:

We've used this gentle, clean, fun, frugal, environmentally friendly approach with both of our babies, and we all (the kids included!) really enjoyed it and prefer it to conventional diapering. :)

I have been using Huggies Overnights for the last year and not had a problem, I put them on my daughter at 8:30 and don't take them off until 9 or 10.

A few recommendations are to try the next size up (just at bedtime if the smaller size still fits fine and doesn't give you any problems regularly) or Huggies makes an overnight diaper (Overnites, not Good Nites) that I have heard good things about. I personally hate the pampers swaddlers/cruisers and my daughter was allergic to the Baby Dry, so I have become a Huggies person. The Overnites should work.

I had the same problems with both my kids. I did exactly what has been suggested and went to Huggies and to a larger size at night and we are happ and dry in the morning. Also I really like Costco' brand "Kirkland's" diapers. They are very comparable to huggies. Love Em!

I highly recommend Target brand diapers. I have been using them for both my daughter and my son and I love them. I will not go back to the name brands again. You can get a box of diapers (92 diapers for size 4) for only $13.79. Target wipes are really good as well.

They all leak at times, even the brand name ones. My suggestion is to try going up a size. The size ranges listed on the bag never matched what my child needed to wear- she has been a size up for a long time now. As your child drinks/eats more at a time, she will be "going" more at a time, and the diaper will only hold so much, even if it says the weight is much higher. Try going up a size and see if that solves your problem. We use Members Mark diapers from Sam's Club because they are the cheapest ($19 for 156 of the size 5's for example-way cheaper than the other brands) and we have had the fewest problems with them. If we run out and can't get to Sams then we use Luvs. Luvs are made by the same company that makes Pampers. I hope this solves your problem.
