Lawn Seats at Tinley Park Amphiteater (IL)

Our daughter is currently obsessed with One Direction. For her upcoming birthday, my husband and I were thinking about getting her tickets to see them in concert at the Tinley Park amphitheatre in July. The only tickets that are somewhat reasonable (but still really expensive!), are lawn seats. We haven't been to a concert here before, so we're unsure what kind of view there is from the lawn seats, if any? While we're sure she'll be super excited and grateful for this gift, we are a bit afraid our daughter is going to be disappointed in the view. Have any of you been to a concert at this venue and sat in the lawn seats? If so, did you have any sort of view of the stage at all?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up getting the lawn seat tickets and she was SOOOO excited. Bought an extra ticket for her friend and we have one happy 9 year old on our hands. Since it's her first concert, we're sure she'll love it even though we will be "camping" on the lawn. Now we just have to hope for good weather!

I've been to many concerts there and, while you can't see the details on stage very well from the lawn (ie. not able to see facial expressions), you will have a clear view of the whole stage show, you have room to move around and clear views of the screens. Being in a seat, especially for a young kid, the view will be blocked by taller people standing in front of her and she won't be able to see much of the stage or the screens over the crowd.
Go with lawn seats, mid-way back or you'll have to deal with all the people walking to and from bathrooms, snack bar, etc. walking right in front of you, bring a blanket and have fun!!

Yup, she'd have a view, probably better than nosebleeds at an indoor arena. There are poles that may obstruct her view but if she is mindful of it she can choose a good spot. Just go early and stake out a good place.

We saw Big Time Rush there last summer and we were in the lawn. We saw them just fine. Everything is projected on the big screens anyway. You can rent lawn chairs there and the best part about the rental chairs is that you can just leave them in the lawn when the concert is over. We brought in a huge picnic blanket and rented chairs. My girls danced the whole concert and the adults sat in the chairs. I would get there early to get a good spot in the lawn.

I'm sure your daughter will really enjoy it!

I just checked on stub hub.... I would NOT pay $115 a ticket for lawn seats at Tinley Park for One Direction.... but that's just me. Besides, my daughter is convinced she will marry Niall.... so I figure we will get them free after the wedding!!!!!! lol.

Yes, parts of what are going on stage, will be projected on one of the big screens. You won't be able to see the stage very well, unless you bring binoculars.

We saw the Jonas Brothers / Demi Levato there when my daughter was 7 and it was INSANE. We got there crazy early (like 3:30ish), I think the gates opened at 4:30 for the 7pm show.... and we were way at the end of the line, so I'm not sure how early you can get there. In addition.... if you are going to go early, you will want to have extra adults to "hold your place" on the grass. if you take a blanket, but use up extra space people will get mad, so you're pretty crammed in together. We took ear plugs, and I was glad..... because the screaming of the girls was so loud that it was hard to hear the music.
