Laundry problem...help!

Every once in awhile, I will be doing laundry and notice that one piece of laundry will come out of the washer or dryer with pink on it. It isn't any other piece of laundry that bled, but I have no idea what it would be! My husband just took the washer apart and didn't see anything stuck in there that might be causing it. I don't get how it can be on just one piece of laundry...and this doesn't happen every time. I'm just waiting for it to happen to a load of whites!

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks mamas! We still haven't found the problem...the laundry I did today was just fine! I'm going to try cleaning the washer(again!) and try those color catchers.

Thanks so much!

All I could think is if a pink crayon was stuck in there an a hot load would make it melt and bleed on what touched it.

but if he looked, I woudl have no idea.

I think you may have stumped mampedia. I hope not but this is a tough one.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you could try Shout Color Catchers. Maybe that would prevent it from happening.

I wonder what the culprit is? Hmmm.....

Hi K.,

A similar thing happened to me not long ago. My son's khaki shorts had a big pink stain on the pocket after coming out of the wash. I found he had stuck a piece of red candy in there, and I forgot to check the pockets before washing. It eventually came out after another wash. Maybe something in someone's pockets?

Or another thought, (I don't even know if this is possible) .... is there any chance that there is a small area of rust on the inside of your washer that could be depositing the stains?

I hope you have success in solving your mystery!

I'd get a dye catcher thing for every load.

Have you tried getting a Washer Cleaner? They have some special soaps and things specifically for washing your washer. It might help!

I've had pink on lighter colors when another item has had red trim of some sort on it. It seemed to be worse if the load didn't get into the dryer right away, so I'm guessing that the trim isn't colorfast even though it has been used on, for instance, a white t-shirt, and the dye has bled.

This may have happened with darker colors, too, but it just wasn't as noticeable.

I finally stopped buying stuff that was white with red trim, but I've heard the color catchers do work well. >.<

Good luck solving your mystery :-)

I'm with you, same thing happens to me, but its not like it happens lots. This time it was all over my sons white shorts. Some on a side pocket and some on the leg. And thankfully it's mostly on whites, and that I have that new bleach gel. Have you seen or tried ? It works great.
