My question is do I have to buy Dreft laundry detergent or is it ok to use other detergents to wash baby clothes that is mild and fragrance free? Dreft is so concentrated and pricey. Thank you.

After getting sick of paying for Dreft I tried all Free and Clear. It was fine.

I would recommend to trial it out with a small container of Free and Clear on 1-2 sets of laundry. If everything works out fine than you can switch -- but truly, in all likelihood things will probably be OK.

For my first child, I used a bottle of Dreft. After that it was my usually detergent, which is All Free and Clear (I have allergies to many laundry products). I also recommend Purex.

I'm with you, I didn't really want to pay for Dreft. I use All Free & Clear. It works well for me (I am allergic to many detergents), and my 3-month-old daughter hasn't had any problems with it.

You sure can. You can use the detergent that you use. Just try a few things to make sure that the baby is not allergic to your detergent. I stopped using dreft after the first bottle because it was so expensive.
