My daughter is 20 months old and still uses a pacifier at nap and nighttime. I know I am trying to get rid of it all together. But my question is... I recently got 18 month pacificer and the nipple portion is latex and ever since she started using it she has developed a rash around her mouth. I don't know if this meeans she is allergic. I am have since taken the latex one away and only give to silicone. But is she allergic to latex....how do I find out???

What can I do next?

Hi C.. Sounds to me like she definetly has an allergy to latex. If you want to know for sure then you could take her to an allergist and they would be able to verify it for sure. My daughter is 3 this April and still uses her pacifier. Her dentist told me it is perfectly fine for her to have it up to 5 because if you take the paci away to soon then they resort to their fingers. The thumb or finger sucking is what ruins their teeth. Go to an allergist they do a simple quick procedure on her back and then you will know for sure. I did it with my daughter and I am glad I did.Good Luck!

Hi C.,
If you suspect any allergic reaction, you should let your child's doctor know. You may be referred to an allergist for testing - allergies are diagnosed by medical tests.
Good luck

Could be an allergy, I would discuss with the dr. It could alsobe a different shape that just irritated the skin and will clear up once the skin isn't being rubbed in the same way. A.

It's possible she could be drooling because of the bigger nipple, and causing the rash. However, I would strongly consider having her tested for a latex allergy.
