I have 5 weeks left in my pregnancy and I'am having sharp pokey like feelings in my vagina along with a bunch of pressure. I was just wondering is it a sign of me dialating or is it just nothing really?

What can I do next?

No, not a sign of dilating but definitely part of the last trimester blues. I'm 28 weeks along and ooh, I feel all kinds of pressure and pokey feelings down yonder. Hang in there....you're closer than I am! : )

My guess is its just pressure from the baby dropping. Have you noticed recently that you can breathe a little easier? If so then the baby has probably dropped down and is causing more pressure in your Vajayjay =)
Good Luck with your little one

i would say it probably is the baby pushing on your vagina area through the placenta the pressure and maybe low back pain is normal because if you have 5 more weeks to go your body is probably getting ready for labor by opening your hips and pelvic area uausally expand and the baby starts to drop. some babies do some don't not everyone does but its normal to feel it and it may not be something all the time everyday but occasionally. it just means your body is prepairing and you are going to dialate or start to in about 2 to three weeks. Also remmember if you go to the dr. and your dialated to 2 you can always re close to. So don't get too excited. when your are in active labor is when your body will dialate more. Good Luck and congrats its a beautiful experience

I started getting sharp pains and such when I was around 36 weeks along with some pressure. My due date was yesterday and I'm still only dilated 1/2cm with the same symptoms. It is complete and utter misery. :(

I am 36 weeks and for the past few weeks had the same symptoms. My doctor checked and nada... nothing not even a tiny little centimeter. Darn!! Just wanted to let you know its normal but unfortunatly it does nothing what so ever to speed things up. ;) Good luck with your last month!!! :)

It's called lightening! It is the baby trying to move it's head into your pelvic bone. Sorry to say this but I didn't deliver until 4 weeks later and I was 5cm dilated and 100% effaced!!! SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP right now! GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!

Since you are going to your doctor often now it wouldn't hurt to ask!

My daughter would literally stab me and it felt like she was trying to come out my leg - it would keel me over. I swear she was on her way out. LOL! I'm sure you're fine. They do the stangest things to you before they're even out! Good Luck! :)

I had that too... I was still at least 3 weeks from delivering though. I figured I was just getting kicked and poked in weird places :)

Possible that you're body is stretching out down there. If you were dilating it would not be felt in the vagina area. Its probably your pelvic floor.

It is not a sign of you dilating. You can't feel when you dilate. As you get farther along, your baby gains more weight and will start to drop. You will get those sudden sharp feelings in your vagina and even in your anus, this is all very normal. Pressure will also accompany these pains. The bigger your baby gets, the less room he/she has, so feeling all of what you are explaining is normal. Good luck!
