Hello all you brilliant, beautiful mommies!
The weatherman says it's going to rain this Saturday, the day of my daughter's 2nd birthday party. My partner's mother offered up her beautiful new home to have the party at. The house is big and beautiful, and did I mention, new?! I need some fun, not so messy game and/or activity ideas for a group of 7 kids with ages ranging from 20 months to 6 years old. Crayons have been vetoed.
We are doing a Yo Gabba Gabba themed party. I've got all the music to dance to and a bunch of print-outs from the Nick Jr. web site but I don't know what kind of age-appropriate activities to arrange.
Any suggestions other than changing the location of the party would be greatly appreciated! =D Thanks Mommies!

What about a gabba gabba charactor comming to the house. I rented a barney mascot for my daughters 2nd birthday party. He was there for 30 min, sang and danced with the kids. My daughter loved it!! It ws a bit pricey...I think...100$. But well worth the memories that were made!!!

I helped my single parent daughter do my one yr olds bday in a rec room at her apt, so we were keeping things clean too. Two games we got at the party store. The pin the tail on the donkey was great, they use stickers nowadays. You can tape it up on a sliding glass down-no tape damage, and/or get the tape that will not peel paint and use it to put up wall decorations. Have a soft scarf to tie over their eyes for the older children, and for little ones, usually Mom or Dad can help them take their turn.

Helium balloons make it festive and you send one home with each child. Tie with bow or slip knot anywhere throughout the party area, on chairs, etc.
Little children don't understand the games where one person is "out" at a time, like musical chairs, but the adults that come get pretty competitive and have fun with it. We used children's music on the cd player, you can use your Yo Gabba music.
You can make up your own simple games. We found these fun bouncy balls at the party store and had the round colorful large plastic tubs / can also be used for ice and sodas and water bottles vs. ice chest, in the kitchen or garage. Ok so all i did was have the children line up, hand them a bouncy ball, different colors, hand size balls, and they were to bounce the ball on the floor and have it bounce up and down into the tub. They got to do 3 balls, and then afterward, each child got a bouncy ball to take home. I tried to get each their own color, like a pink one for the one girl. Have a blue shapie on hand & write their name on it, even better. They also sell these like in a bag of 8 so you're covered. Provide a different gift for the ones who still put everything in their mouth, 2yrs & under.
I love the color wonder activity you can tear pages out of one book and they can color, no mess, someone else mentioned.
Check the Party City Yo Gabba Gabba section and you will get ideas just from little toys, balls, offered, and they match. That's where you look for the put sticker on Yo Gabba game(pin tail on donkey), the balls, etc.
Ask around if you're going to do candy bags on what their kids like. We found some don't like chocolate, no choking hazard hard candies, etc. A little goes a long way, so don't over do it.
See if you or friends have 2 or 3 childs table and chairs and kids can eat and do activites at their own little table with Yo Gabba table cloth.
High chair works great for the bday girl to blow out candles and take pictures. You can lay out sheet of plastic, beach towels, cloth sheet, etc under activity table for easy pick up and shake outside/trash.
For these ages, I suggest you tell the winners of the games prizes given out after all the games are played, and then have a similar small prize for every child to go home with. You can have wrapped prize and everyone sits down and opens them at once. Everybody's happy. So now they have a balloon, small amt of candy in bag, place to carry bouncy ball, & one other toy from the Yo Gabba section, maybe?
Have a great time!!

What about color wonder markers, if you wanted to do a craft. Or you could just turn on music and have a "dance party!" The older kids could play freeze dance too. You could do a scavenger hunt (I hid little ducks for one of my daughters parties) depending on the average age of the kids. If most of the kids are around 2, they're probably just going to want to play with new toys, so I would just bring a bunch from home and let the kids have at it. Have fun!

For my daughter's 3 year old party we had a halloween theme and did a craft - decorating pumpkins w/ foam stickers.... Obviously it's not October, but the sticker idea was AWESOME. They loved it - and my son did too - 18mos at the time! Maybe since it's almost Spring you could do a spring theme and have them decorate pots (plastic) with stickers/foam stickers and then give them a bag of seeds to take home to plant (dirt and planting to take place at HOME).
