Hi there,
My sister-in-law got the lap band about 3 years ago. I think it could have been successful for her if she followed what the doctors said but she didn't. She is a food lover and a chronic overeater. When you get a procedure like that you need to realize that your habits MUST change. At fisrt it is impossible to eat like you have been but as the weeks go by you can easily get around it. SHe would drink while she eats....which loosens the food and let's it slide down easier. She would bounce up and down so the food would 'percolate' down. She just found ways to be able to eat what she wanted. I also have two cousing that got gastric bybass that have since gained back quite a bit of their weight. This kind of procedure is for the person that is totally willing to make a lifestyle change and not just look for the easy way out. So if that is you....I say go for it. Butif you just plain love food and don't want to give it up, you are just going to be wasting your money and in the long run not getting what you want. I suggest something like weight watchers first and see how far you can get with support groups before you take the drastic, expensive approach.
Take care
