Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has given their baby the Comfort formula Kroger makes. Formula is so expensive and this being my 3rd child, I'm trying to cut costs anyway I can. However, I don't want to deprive her of any nutritional value. Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hello,

Thanks to all who replied. I didn't think it would make a difference if I switched, but I wanted some reassurance. I did start her on it late yesterday and so far so good.

Thanks again,
L.

I used Kroger's Comfort formula and it is just as good as the name brand.

Also wanted to let you know that all store brands are actually name brand products. They are produced on the same line as the name brand stuff you are just paying for the name. For example Giant Eagles saugage is Bob Evans sausage. Krogers baby food is Gerber baby food. I have worked for Krogers, Meijers, Walmart, Big Bear and Giant Eagle and each store that I have worked in have said that their products are name brand items with just the store logo on it.

I never used the Kroger brand formula but i did use Parent's Choice which is Walmart brand. my baby actually spit up with the enfamil and she did not with the parent's choice. Also i tried to give her the next step of enfamil since she is now 9 months and she hated it. So back to the WM. Good luck

I had tried the off brand formula's and it depends on your child. My first child had no problem with it, but my little girl got horrible diaper rashes because it made her poop alot. Most formula's have the same ingredients just look at the label and compare it to the brand your using now. I hope everything works out.

Hi L..

I pride myself in being the ultimate bargain hunter - and I have done my homework! The store brand formulas are as good nutritionally for children as the name brands - this is federally regulated. Try the store brands and use the one that your child tolerates best. Now, for the bargains that I use (hope this is helpful): SAM'S IS THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION! I use their Members Mark formula - and buy a very large can (larger than those in the regular stores) for $19.99. I used Parent's Choice (Walmart brand) with my daughter because Sams didn't sell have a store brand at that time. I also purchase Sam's brand diapers- They are close to $10 cheaper a box. Same goes for wipes. Sams also sells Gerber Second Stage Baby food. For baby food, cereal, toddler snacks check out your local Big Lots - they have lots for a fraction of the cost. The other thing I do is always buy store brand medications - either at Target or Walmart (Target is typically cheaper). I like to stretch my money too - so I hope that this is all helpful to you :)

L.,

I was in the same situation with my daughter 3 years ago. Based on the research I did then, and I'm pretty sure that it is the same now, the companies that make formula are regulated, meaning that it does not matter which brand you purchase, they have the same nutritional value. I used to purchase the Parent's Choice from Wal Mart. What I would spend for a small can of Isomil, I could purchase 2 cans of Parent's Choice soy.
Good luck with your decision and I wish you the best with you and your children.

I never used the Kroger brand, but I did use the Target brand formula. My daughter used the Enfamil Gentlease formula and Target made a comparable one, and it was half the price per can! Anyway, I think if you compare the nutrients and they are the same, you should be fine to use Kroger formula as long as your baby likes it.

We do the WM brand formula and have with all of our children. As the other person said they all have to be regulated so they are all pretty much the same.

Hi L.,
I buy the Costco Brand Formula and I have read up on the difference between generic versus name brand. I found out that there is no difference except in price. All baby formula produced in the USA is required to meet FDA standards in RDA & Nutrition. You can rest easy knowing you're giving your baby what she needs without spending $25 or more per can.
