It sounds like a cyst or possibly ingrown hair--- I would do a few warm compresses with a washcloth. Do that for a few days-- you could also put a tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream on it--it will shrink it down and help it go away if thats what it is. Good luck!

Years and years ago I had the same problem. For me hot baths didn't help. I had to use a hot wet washcloth, I'd fold it to make it slender and apply it to the area.

Be careful, please don't burn your skin. Tinker with the water temperature until you find the ideal of very warm but not too hot water & cloth. Apply the moist heat 3-5 times a day. Thankfully for me It did help and the lump slowly went away.

Contact the local Planned Parenthood office, they typically treat women's health problems for free or for a donation.

Wear looser fitting slacks, jeans, shorts and dresses and skirts without pantyhose Wear cotton crotch under pants that aren't too snug. In our area the Volunteers of America Store is the least expensive place to buy used (yet clean) clothes and underwear.

If you frequently wear mini-pads this could be part of the cause of the cyst. Wear only unscented pads. Also and try a pad with a different weave. For example, Kotex has an almost cardboard type mini pad (that works great for me.) My previous brand of pads were similar to fabric and tended to "cling" a little to close for my comfort.

I'm wishing you rapid relief.

I had what sounds very similar to you. When I did go see my doctor she said it was my bartholin gland, I believe a cyst on it. She said she could drain it for me or we could just leave it. I chose to leave it because I didn't like the idea of needles anywhere near there. She said as long as it doesn't become infected that I should be fine. She said I would know if it was infected because there would be severe pain. Mine has gone away and come back a few times but never causes pain so I just try and pay attention to it. When you can afford it I would recommned getting it checked just to be sure but I totally understand not being able to go right now. Just keep an eye on it!

Sounds like it could be a bartholin cyst. The bartholin glands are located just inside the vaginal opening, one on each side, slightly toward the back. It is not uncommon for the fluid that the gland secrets to get backed up and cause a cyst. At home treatment usually just involves soaking in a warm bath a few times a day for a few days. It is possible for this cyst to become infected and form an abcess, if that happens you would definitely need treatment from your doctor. If it becomes painful and/or you develop a fever you need to seek care right away. Here is a link with more info about bartholin cysts, you can see if their description matches your symptoms. Hope you are able to clear it up on your own soon.

I am prone to cysts and I have been getting them in that area lately. They were just on the top of the skin then started going under the skin. They can sometimes discolor the skin too, like red or purple. I have waited sometimes for a long time to go the doctor because of finances and it did get infected but it wasn't life threatening. They are called sebaceous cysts. I hope it gets better soon.

Sounds like a cyst, but it could be an ingrown hair. I used to get cysts in that area a lot. My doctor told me to wear either men's boxer shorts or women's boy shorts to help in the long run (he also said to go without panties at night and to air dry before getting dressed). He said when I feel one to hot compress it, and if it doesn't get any better within a few weeks to come in. He informed me some get so large they need to do a minor surgery and send it to the lab.
Another danger with these is if you mistake it for an abcess. Abcesses can be common down there when a women gets a staph infection. Inspect it, if it looks like a boil, or that it has a "head" to it, you definately need to go to urgent care.
Planned parenthood is a great option if you can't afford a dr's visit right now. If you call the hotline they will even set up an appointment for you so you don't have to wait all day. The people with appointments go before the people without appointments, and it's free. They ask for a donation but I just told them I couldn't afford it.
I hope it gets better soon. Try planned parenthood if you can, but definately keep an eye on it. Feel it and give it a reference in size (marble, pea, golf ball, grape. etc.) and write it down, that way when you do go in the doctor they will know if its gotten bigger and how long you have had it. Good Luck!

Try not wearing tight pants and see if it goes away. I don't understand a couple things like where exactly is it (what opening)? Second is their pain? Chafing of cloths or a alergic reaction to material or a simple bug bight might be the answer. You left out a lot of details, but if it is new it may go away on its own, if it has been there for a while and getting bigger then you got something that may be a boil, cyst, something worse,...
