Kitchenaid Blender Problem

During my quest to make tomato soup, I somehow ruined my beloved Kitchenaid blender. I use it 2 or 3 times a week, so I'm struggling without it. The part that is broken is the black piece on the base that the blender sits on. It was stripped so it won't spin the blender blades. Has this ever happened to you? Is it fixable? Do you have to take it somewhere? I hope it's fixable. If it's not it means I have to buy a new one and I'll have to get a super cheap one....the kitchenaid one is a really cute butter yellow one I got for our wedding.

What can I do next?

Kitchenaid has the BEST customer service!!! Call their hot line and tell them what happened. Explain how long you have had it etc. They will then advise you on how to proceed. You can find their 800 number on the paperwork that came with your blender.

The exact same thing happened to my Kitchenaid. I do no think it is fixable in that you'll likely pay more to fix it than it costs to replace it. I bought an Oster which has that part made out of metal. I think the Kitchenaid is a poor design which really is disappointing given overall it seems to be high quality and was not cheap.

The exact same thing happened to me about a year ago -- the little black coupling lost most of its points and the blender wouldn't spin anymore. The good news is, the fix will cost you about $5! Just order the part and replace it yourself -- very simple. I got it from Marbeck, http://www.marbeck.com/blenders_kitchenaid.html. Hope this helps!

Try emailing kitchenaide...they have sent us replacement parts for other appliances in the past. It doesn't hurt to ask them first before you shell out money for a repair or a new one.

The same thing happened to mine. There is a replacement part for it. I believe one of the other ladies found it online. Mine's good as new for just a few bucks!

there is a company in dallas that you bring the blender to and they charge you $15 and replace it - call kitchen aid and they'll give you the name. Or if you want to save some money, go on amazon.com and search for kitchen aid blender coupler. it is $1.08 plus shipping, so it ends up being about $7. I would buy several since it doesn't increase shipping. The trick is getting the damn thing off. If you read the reviews for the product there are tricks on getting it off..
