A lot of Mamapedia members have children who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, including myself.
I was diagnosed at age 8 (and am now 33), and was on Ritalin for several years.
My boys have both been diagnosed. My 10 year old has ADD and takes non-stimulant Intuniv, and my 11 year old has ADHD and takes Adderall XR and Intuniv.
Your best bet is to simply ask your questions right here where everyone can see them, so you get lots of good answers based on a lot of experience.
Best of luck

I babysat a child that was on ritalin 2 years ago now. I can discribe only behavior issues in tween/teen children. If that is your question just let me know.
BTW by babysat i mean i monitored his schooling, tutored (math), and he stayed with me whenever the mom was out.
My 9 year old son has ADHD and his teacher recommended that I put him on medication. I wasn't comfortable with this so I started using doTerra essential oils to help him pay attention and enhance his calm. They have worked wonders and his teacher has said that he has drastically improved in class. The single oil that I use is Vetiver and the oil blends that I use are Serenity and InTune. If you don't already have doTerra essential oils in your home, you can get more info or send me a message at my website www.mydoterra.com/ricks. You can also request that I send you a free sample. Good luck!
What's your underlying question? Are you wondering whether your put your child on it? Is your child on it and having problems that you want help with or alternatives to? Are you concerned about side effects?
Like all medications, Ritalin has some benefits and some limitations and side effects. It's not the only way to go. Some kids do great with it and the parents have no problem medicating their kids, but they also know it's not a cure-all.. Some people hate meds and want to do more natural things, and/or their kids exhibit more problems when medicated.
It's hard to be of help with a broad question like this, but maybe that's what you intended because you want a huge range of responses.
