Hi Moms, We will have our 3 kids for New Years Eve (ages 12, 9 and 6) and I'm wondering what (if anything!) everyone is doing? Not sure what is going on, fireworks, bouncy houses, fairs, etc. I haven't seen any advertisments for anything. Just looking for ideas to keep the kids busy for a couple hours and not cost much! I'm in Gilbert in the East Valley...Thanks Moms!

What can I do next?

Last year we had some friends over and we did a "mock" celebration. I bought black foamcore from a craft store and one of those princess tiaras in the foamcore, then traced the tiara onto the black foamcore and made "new years hats" Everyone got to use a silver marker and decorate their hat. We got Sparkling cider and plastic champayne glasses, then toasted with the cider. Then we banged pots and pans together as we pretended it was midnight (but it was really 7:00pm. Then we had an icecream bar. Vanilla icecream with lots of different topping and the kids could help themselves. Then we played boardgames and went to bed. www.familyfun.com is a good resource for fun kid activities. Happy New Year!

In the past we have gone to Schnepf Farms on New Years Eve. You can take a hayride and see their light display and there are huge bon fires at the end of the ride. They give you stuff to make smores and also have other food for additional money. I'm not sure if they are doing it this year but we have done it in the past with the kids and they really enjoyed themselves. You can look Schnepf Farms up on the internet. Have fun whatever you do.

Skateland is doing an all night skate party. Of course you probably don't want them up all night but it is something fun and family oriented for a few hours. The cost is usually about $11 per person with skate rental. Whatever you choose to do have a very happy New Year!
