People please check the facts before posting erroneous information. The FACTS say nothing about having to be a minority to get into full day Kindergarten.

I've posted below, the rules for applying for full day kinder in Keller. By the way, my first grader didn't attend pre-school and went to Keller for Kinder. She was well prepared for First grade and is in the gifted and talented program. Keller's Kinder program is awesome. Working moms don't like it because it's a nuisance to them.

Some KISD campuses offer a full day Kindergarten program for students who meet one of the following criteria:

Family income must fall within federal guidelines for free and reduced lunch program. Parent(s) must complete free/reduced lunch form and show proof of income with the last year's income tax return and/or 3 current pay stubs
Limited English Proficiency
Homeless (as defined by 42 U.S.C.S. Section, 11302)
Child of an active duty member of the armed forces, mobilized Reservist or member of the Texas National Guard, including the child of a member who was hurt or killed on active duty. Parent/Guardian must present a Department of Defense identification (such as a DoD photo ID), or a statement of service, or an official letter from a commander stating that he/she is on active duty or mobilized.
Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing under Family Code 262.201.
Identified by KISD as academically at-risk based on local assessments (not considered until end of first 9 weeks).

Hi there! I wanted to let you know that you should probably call the home campus you are zoned for. (Lots of campuses are starting their early enrollment soon!) If you aren't sure about that, you might call the Administration Building, and their phone number is listed on the website at www.kellerisd.net. I hope that helps, and good luck!

This is why I do not like the keller isd. No pre k, I inquired and was totally discouraged from even applying. I think there is only once class, for the whole district! And on top of that the kindergarden classes are only 3 hours! My daughter has been ready for full day for 2 years now. Good luck.

After reading all the other post I am not sure if you question was answered or not, but call the ISD. They will be able to help you. As far as 1/2 day kindergarten goes we all did 1/2 days growing up and it worked out fine for us.

My 4 year old currently attends Pre-K at Parkview Elem in KISD and he loves it. He has learned so much. There is a roundup in the late summer. Every school has it but you have to qualify by income or ESL.

The 1/2 day kindergarten is great! My son is MORE than ready for 1st grade. He has a terrific teacher.

Don't be shunned away by the nay sayers...the program is great and I too was shocked when I found out it was only 1/2 day. They learn ALOT in a 3 hour time span and I was definitely surprised. I've sat in on the classes several times and really don't know how they do it but they do.

Call the school district or your area elementary for information on the program.

Yep, I agree with Cindy, that is why we're going to a private Kindergarten later this year. Keller does offer full-day for minority and low-income families, but I don't understand the logic in that. The 3 hour day is a joke too. There is no way a kid will be ready for 1st grade with only a three hour a day Kinder, especially if they've never been in a pre-school environment before.

You should be able to get the number for the ISD through their website. They should be able to direct you to whom you need to speak with to answer your questions. Good luck!

ok yes Keller ISD does have a couple of drawbacks. Half day kinder is a set back for some. But, every school district has drawbacks. The kindergarten program is great. My dd was ready for all day kinder and we would have liked it but she did just great! The kellerisd web site is kellerisd.net and I bet you can find out more info there. But, please do not let half day kinder deter you from a great school district.
