I highly recommend Dr. Goldberg's book "Ever Since I Had my Baby". There are some diet and lifestyle sections in there that really help with incontinence. And then I also recommend Kamin Physical Therapy, Pelvic floor specialists in Park Ridge. ###-###-####) They can watch you do a Kegel on ultrasound and help you get it just right. It's possible the way you're doing Kegels is causing your problem. For some people it's not the best for their body depending on where everything shifts after pregnancy. You might even be absolved of having to do them altogether! (Your "annoyance" just might be intuition.)

They turned all of my post baby symptoms around and gave me a feeling of empowerment in my mastery of these little annoyances. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Good luck!
Emilie

I'm not sure where you live, but I've been going to Florendo Physical Therapy downtown for the last few weeks for some birth-related pelvic floor dysfunction. It's been really helpful. I suggest getting a referral from your OB/Gyn for physical therapy and finding someone who specializes in this stuff. It makes a HUGE difference, and there's no reason you need to go at it alone. Your health insurance should pay for it.

I second the book as well as taking the Total Control Program which is a fitness program designed to help women who have pelvic floor weakness. www.totalcontrolprogram.com and visit the www.womenshealthfoundation.org a non-profit organization located here in Chicago the creator of the program.

Next Thursday, October 9th, they are having their bi-annual event called, Sex, Chocolate and Your Pelvic Floor in Hinsdale for $35 per tix in Hinsdale. I will be attending myself (I focus on women's health and wellness and have been trained to teach the program) but you will find more details on their website. If you inquire, tell them you heard it from J.. :)

After the birth of my 2nd child, I had all sorts of pelvic / lower back issues, and was referred to a physical therapist who specialized in women's health issues. She was teriffic, and really helped me a lot. I had no idea that physical therapists were trained in that area. She did the ultrasound test on me described by another responder. Anyway, she is actually in the middle of changing jobs (she's leaving Lutheran General in Park Ridge and going to a private firm), but she has also recently developed an exercise tool to help with these problems. Her website is www.pelvicsolutions.com. I haven't tried it, but knowing Tina, I'm sure it's an awesome and helpful product.
