Hi ladies,

My daughter's 2nd birthday is in a couple days and I was trying to think of something we could do to at her party this weekend, that she will have as a keepsake. We are having a barn animal/ farm themed bday party for her, and I just don't know how I can incorporate that into a keepsake idea for her to have when she is older.

I was thinking maybe putting together some sort of book that her little friends can color and sign (their parents will obviously sign for them if they are too young). I'm not sure I can incorporate the theme into it or how to go about it. Any ideas?

Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

I write my daughters a letter every year on their birthdays. It's nothing epic, but I tell them about their birthdays, how much I love them, and talk about who they are in that moment in time. You could also add some pictures of her birthday party and a guest list?

At both my kids first birthdays I made a keepsake where everyone at the party signed their name and/or wrote a note to the birthday child. My daughter's theme was dogs so I got one of those autograph dogs and my son's theme was balls so I got a mini inflatable baseball and used that. Farm theme should be fairly easy...you could find a stuffed animal (maybe cow or pig since they'd probably be easier to write on) or an inflatable one...those are nice cuz you can deflate them for easy storage!

Buy her a charm bracelet.
Since this is her second birthday, buy two charms.
Each year, get one to add and then you can give it to her on her 13th birthday when she should be old enough to appreciate it and wear it.

Her interests over the years will change, and that's okay. But she will have a keepsake for all the phases and charms of her life.
Don't get one that will fit her now....get one possibly even engraved with her name that can be added to as the years pass.
It can be a special thing each year that you do for her.
Photo albums and scrapbooks of all her cards for each birthday are good too.
My first baby just turned 24 and it blows her mind all the things I have saved and made for her. She is expecting her first child and I have her baby shoes, things like that.
Those are things I wouldn't have given her until now, but the charm bracelet and keeping the charms until turning 13 is pretty special.

I hope you get some great ideas.

Best wishes.

For my daughter's birthdays I take a large photo of her and buy some matting to go around it. I then have everyone at the party sign their name on the matting so we can always remember who was at the party.

You could dress your daughter up in a cow outfit - or something else barnyard like - for the photo.

A piggy bank! You could do one off the shelf, or you could print out photos from the party and decoupage or craft glue (what's it called? Modge Podge?) the photos onto the piggy bank. Then, you have a pig (barn theme) covered in actual photos of the event.

We give my daughter a special hardback book every year on her birthday and write a message in it. They have been: Love is a Handful of Honey, How do I love you, I Love You Through and Through, I Love you Because You're You. There's also Picture Me books...you put their picture in and there's a cutout for their face so they become the animals etc on each page. There's a farm animal one (check amazon etc under Picture Me Books), and they also have snapfish books you can make
