My 2 year old is being tested for Juvenile RA and Lupus. She is also having more tests done on her heart. My question is, What am I to expect if it is JRA? The research I have done makes it look more like RA than Lupus. Please if any moms have a child with either, Id love to hear from you. Thanks

What can I do next?

HI J.,

Both of these conditions are from a compromised immune system. Medical doctors usually treat the symptoms but don't attack the cause. I don't have a child with either but I do counsel on nutrition and prevention of these types of problems. If you would like more information, please get back to me. I'd love to help.

My daughter has JRA, it is sysemtic which does effect her internal organs when she has a flair up. BUT we have been very lucky in that she doesn't have many problems so far with this and she was diagnosed at 2 1/2 yrs old and she is now 10yrs old. Her RA doctor told us that 92% if children that have it at that age either hardly ever have problems or they always do. Once they diagnosed her which was aweful just because she wouldn't walk all of the sudden one day and then spiked a high fever... her blood work was crazy off the charts so she was at childrens hospital for 13 days doing all kinds of test just like what is sounds like you are going through... even had to have the spinal tap just to rule out cancer... once all of that came back ok they had the RA speicalist come in and look at everything, he put her on Naproxen and within two hours her fever went down and she tried to walk again. Hope this helps

I was diagnosed with JRA at age 10. (I'm 39 now.) My mom took me to a homeopathic doctor who put me on a healthy diet and treated me for food allergies and I've been totally fine since. I've tested positive for RA twice as an adult and one of those was very recent and I have no symptoms. Find a doctor who will test and clear food allergies, if you can. That will help her tons. Good luck to you!

Hi J.,

I was test for JRA at 4 and I'm now 32. Once you get tests back with results, find a good pediatric rheumatologists. Early care is one of the best things for her. They are hard to find, I'd suggest you check Emory or Pedimont hospital. My pediatric doc was at Emory and my current one is at Pedimont. Most symptoms are really going to depend on the severity and flare ups.

If you'd like more details just send me a private message and I'd be more than happy to talk with you.
