Call "Once Upon a Child" in Hamden or Milford, they should have used jogging stroller for $50 or less. NEVER jog with regular stroller, the wheels aren't made to handle the force, and there are no shock absorbers to protect child.
Hi moms,
I am starting to include a bit of jogging in my weeks, usually instead of a workout on Saturdays when my husband can watch the kids and I can just get out and go. Once or twice I've ended up with one or both of my boys in the stroller and I just REALLY WANTED TO JOG so I alternated jogging and walking with the stroller. It is an older regular stroller and our road is paved and level. Other than the dumb thing being a pain to push and having to keep my stride a little restricted, is there any reason I should NOT continue to do this once in a while? I really want to be jogging a bit again but don't think I have a good reason to invest in a jogging stroller for only one or two days a month. If I have the boys out with me we usually go to the park so I can sacrifice the jog. Any comments or opinions??? Thanks!
Thanks for the tips. I really appreciate the ones from experience. I am going to try to find a second-hand double stroller even though I probably won't be jogging much with kids. It should be more comfortable for hiking around the parks.

As long as you are careful, should be OK. Here are the concerns: extreme vibrations can cause shaken baby syndrome, there may be unexpected pits or holes in the road that you could hit and cause the stroller to stop suddenly and you to fall on top of it. I'd look for a jogging stroller at a yard sale.
My feeling is that you shouldn't jog your stroller unless it's intended for that. Jogging strollers have better suspensions and tires than regular strollers, which means the ride will be smoother for your kids and will have less jostling -- something that's important for their developing brains. I'm no expert, however.
I don't know about any reasons why not to jog with a regular stroller, except that it is harder for you. However, if you did want to get a jogging stroller, there is a consignment store in Dobbs Ferry called Affordables that sometimes has bigger items. It's worth a look. I bought a pack n play there for $32 when I needed an additional one for daycare. The people are very nice and seem to take very good care of the items they resell. The website is www.affordablechild.com. I would give them a call to see if they had one before going, but it's a nice place to visit for all sorts of other things too. Good luck!
I'm not sure I see the harm in it. Its not like you are running a marathon with them. I've jogged a bit with my son in his regular stroller...my jogging stroller NEVER worked right - the alignment has always been off so I can 't use it...but I understand some days you are walking and you just want to go a bit faster. If thats the case, then do it. If you think you will be jogging a longer distance and more regularly then try to find one. I'm sure you can find one cheap at a garage sale or consignment shop. Check Craigs List for someone selling one close to home.
just keep your eye on craigslist and if you see a jogging stroller for under $40 buy it! You can always re-sell it the same way and most likely for the same money. We found one at a flee market and while it isn't immpossible or bad to use the regular stroller, the jogging stroller does make it easier (we like to walk trails at a local park and while camping and the jogging stroller makes that a much nicer experience).
Enjoy your jogs!
Find a jogging stroller at a 2nd hand store or craigslist or freecycle.com
Try Craigslist and garage sales. I wouldn't jog with a regular stroller - too much tossing of that little neck. In fact, it's very easy for a child under 5 to dislocate his.her neck - I know from my daughter's experience.
Just be careful! Good idea is to....Look in the classifieds for a used one, I know someone who was able to buy a great jogger this way, also look for store sales you will probaly feel more secure and get a better work out, the kids will be safer in the jogger I would recommend the investment for this reason.
Jogging stroller maneuever much better than traditional strollers. If you are going to make this a regular activity, definitely consider a jogging stroller. They are lighter and turn better and you don't have to modify your stride.
Congratulations on finding time to get in shape! I'm waiting for summer to dust of that shower gift!
