I had two skunks and two raccoons as a kid and with all of the JFF why not keep it going!

What was your weirdest or most memerable pet?

ETA- My skunks were Sheerny and Ladybug. The raccoons were spider and rambo. I have also had cats, dogs, horses, cows, guinea pigs, hampsters(same time as cats is not good! especailly when you are 5) cockatials.

As for how we got the skunks and raccoons was my mom was working in a vet clinic and someone had hit the mother skunk and brought the babies in... mom takes them. As for the raccoons those are trappin issues gone wrong... We caught the mom and raised the babies... Let them loose and live their life wild. I still see spider as he is down at bfs dads house... still "kinda" friendly... as in he will let you watch him eat the cat food.. haha. only reason I know it is him is because he has a very light patch on his side and always has!

What can I do next?

I had a deaf cat when I was in high school. She was stealth, she'd hide places you'd never imagine and then attack your ankles as you'd walk by. She wasn't the nicest cat, my parents gave her away when I went to college to a friend that was a vet. I ran into her a few months ago and she reported that the kitty was still around, she's got to be around 15 or so now.

I raised an orphaned baby lamb, bottle fed and all . . . until he turned into a ram and liked to head butt (and that REALLY hurt). Then we sent him to a sheep farm.

Not weird but definitely memorable. I had a cat. He was born when I was 9 and died 16 1/2 yrs later. He was a big tomcat like his daddy. he could climb a tree and get down on his own. He could open a window or door himself. He would unlock my bedroom window and push the top down so he could sit up there. At the time, we still had the older windows that you had to change the screens and storm doors out with season changes. At one time, the kitchen door had the type of handle that you push down on, he could open it. he knew when I was coming home. My bedroom door was missing the knob at one time and he would use his nails to open the door and sit in the dining room waiting for me. My mom always knew when I would be home in 5 minutes or so. He would also give hugs, putting one paw on each side of your head and tuck his under your chin. He was a big cat. Vet said he was overweight until he tried to give him a shot. Then said he was all muscle. We had dogs that hated cats, he set them straight. When my husband and I were first together, kitty did not like him. he would sit and growl. That lasted for about 8 months. Oh and he would pick his own food. If you forgot and left a bag or pouch on the counter, he would tear them open and help himself. If I gave him a can of food, i would put 3 choices and he would choose one. If you opened the wrong one he would walk away. If you forgot to feed him or give him water, he would put his front paws in the bowl and sit up straight waiting. And when we had our first place, when the window was open, he would sit in a chair we had nearby and put his front legs on the windowsill--like a child sitting with the elbows on the window sill watching outside.

Growing up, I had a pet bull! His name was Mack~ Also, a cow named Jodi. We would ride on them like they were our horses...
Also, had a horse and pony....
We were/are SUCH animal lovers, when our pony passed away, we rented a bulldozer and had our pony buried behind our barn..
And no, we aren't country hicks AT ALL!!! Just really love animals :)

I've had a lot of pets in my life:
dogs
cats
rabbits
fish
guinea pigs
hamsters
ferrets
frogs
toads
Weird and memorable:
I lived with a 10 foot python named Baby Girl (belonged to my roommate in college)
I had pet magpie in high school (It had fallen out of it's nest)
Currently I have one cat, four dogs, an African Gray parrot who is quite interesting with his "colorful" vocabulary and three salamanders that my son rescued out of our coal room about 7 years ago. Who would have ever thought they would live so long in captivity?

I grew up with outdoor cats because my brother was allergic. I spent a lot of time catching pillbugs, centipedes, insects, etc. but I couldn't bring them inside as pets either. The most memorable was the time I brought home tadpoles and kept them in a fishbowl inside. Once they turned into tiny frogs, I let them go.
My son has had several fish, a beetle farm (thanks SIL), and built an elaborate lego city to hold pill bugs and silverfish.

We had a ferret named Esmerelda. She was evil.

We had 2 iguanas, one ran away and one died. The one that 'ran away' was one that my husband thought would ride on his shoulder while bike riding. Really??!! So when we got the 3rd iguana, we named him Muerte! Muerte means death. He died too when he jumped right in my cats mouth after escaping from the tank.

We've had Oscars (fish) - 4 of them at separate times. They are awesome fish - they truly have a personality, I just love them.

We have had pac man frogs & newts too and a snow leopard turtle.

We now have a bearded dragon named Norbert. He's awesome. My husband takes him to the garden and let's him run around.

We have always had dogs (2-4 at any given time), cats and several fish tanks too.

Fun question! I too want to know how you had skunks and raccoons :)

A wild caught chameleon. A compound cat that we fed from time to time brought it in the house one day. I had to catch it bugs and hold them out to it. I HATE HATE HATE bugs. My Dad bought me LONG medical tongs after I had managed to keep Cammie a live for a month. Didn't have to touch the bugs any more!

This was in Saudi Arabia.

A pet chicken named Henrietta. I loved that bird. She would let me fling her up in the air and catch her as she came flapping down, loved to cuddle and give kisses. One day she just showed up in our back yard with a few others. She was the only one we didn't eat because she was the friendliest right off the bat and my mother and I got attached to her.
Recently I have been thinking of getting another chicken, even living in the city. =)

One day a rooster showed up in our garage. I named it Cookie. Then a couple days later, Cookie had "run away". It was only years later did my parents tell me they made him into chicken soup. Why they bought a rooster (perhaps someone was giving it away?) in the suburbs of Ct. is so beyond strange.

I had a pair of lizards. They were horned toads named Horny and Thorny. Thorny was the girl. I took them to school in a box for show and tell and they escaped. My teacher called the janitor in to help chase them around the room, which he did but he was afraid to pick them up to put them back in the box. They looked scary but their "thorns" weren't really sharp.

When I was 2, my family took in a full sized poodle named Yancy. I don't remember how long we had him, but I want to say it was for about 6 months or so, and I don't remember why we had him. But I do have clear memories of the dog tackling me and pinning me to the ground and me yelling "No, Yancy." I didn't understand at the time that the stupid dog was humping me! I hated that stupid dog and hate poodles to this day!

We also had a chicken that blew in during a storm... that was probably the weirdest addition to our menagerie.

We had a small terrier mix dog when I was young and she slept with our rabbit and the dog ate lettuce and rabbit's food and the rabbit ate the dog food. Jealousy I guess. They cuddled up in the dog bed and were great friends.

My aunt wins the best pet contest, hands down! lol. She works for a zoo, and is always getting to foster animals for up to a year or so. Especially baby animals, as many captive animals reject their babies... She has had:
a baby wallaby (slept in a bowling ball bag... the cuteness killed us!)
2 grizzly bear cubs
a bobcat
baby camel <<EXTREMELY annoying, but cute. :)
snow leopard cub
lion cub
several exotic birds
In addition to her farm animals/actual pets of horses, cows, goats, ground hog, raccoons, skunks, donkeys, miniature horses... etc.

MY PETS
2 hedgehogs- surprisingly cuddly, and they liked to climb up my little brother's shorts when he sat down and wasn't looking... made for some interesting pictures! Lol.

2 ferrets-AWESOME pets! Smelly, but super lovable and fun! :)

4 hamsters-aka escape artist rodents.... NEVER getting my DD a hamster!

1 goat- he thought he was a dog. You would drive up to our house, and see 2 dogs and a goat coming to meet you... "Bark, bark, baaaaa!" Then he would jump on the hood and stare you down. lol.

bunch of benny (miniature) hens... along with one rooster who was SUPER fierce! You stayed away from that little bastard! lol.

dogs & cats & fish....
