I just found a local place that sells AWESOME frozen custard. I've never been a big plain-ice-cream fan (I like Rocky Road, or Banana Split etc) but man this plain chocolate custard is so good.

So its Friday and it's June 1st, so what is your stay-cool dessert?

What can I do next?

greek yogurt with berries. It's so tangy, and cold and the berries are so sweet. It's a great combo. I also like a bowl of sliced strawberries with whipt cream. Sometimes I pour that over a slice of cold pound cake.

And any frozen rum, tequila, or vodka drink!

Watermelon slushies. Easy to make--freez cut up watermelon and put in a a blender with just a little sugar and a spoon or 2 of lemon juice. Close enough to an icee.

We do have 2 different italian ice places near us but they are so sugary sometimes.

Banana split loaded with butter pecan ice cream, chocolate and caramel syrup and about a foot high of homemade whipped cream. Oh and just one cherry. Gotta watch the calories in my old age!

Shaved Ice is great, and not together, but and ice cold ale when it's hot out is also nice. The best summer treat is something most of you probably never even heard of, the Filipino dessert called halo-halo.

Those Hawaiian Ice places.. We are not always thrilled with the syrups, so we ask for half or just purchase it plain..

There is a place here in town where they make their own syrups! It is called Casey's New Orleans Snowballs.. They have great concoctions where they mix different flavors or even cream..

We also have an old custard place here called Sandy's.. It is an Austin Legend.. But they only make the vanilla custard now.. I miss the chocolate or the swirl custard!

I like Jello-Cake

Bake a white cake (box is just fine) then take a fork and make TONS of holes in it, while it is warm. Have ready your jell-o, I prefer Red and Orange :) and drizzle the Jell-O over the cake, I like to 'marble' it. then top with cool whip or home made whipped cream and put it in the fridge. PERFECT for BBQ's and a nice cool cake that is SOOO yumm! Cupcakes work too ;)
