E.M.
My mommy uniform is a "magic skirt" and a tank with a shelf bra. I live in Hawaii right now though so this will not be practical next military move!
What do you wear on a daily basis? Does it "match your age"? *notice I didn't ask how old everyone is... * : )
Since I work in a shop full of men, jeans and t-shirts/sweatshirts are my daily attire. Does it match my age? I guess... I'm 32 and how can a pair of jeans and a t-shirt/sweatshirt not? Other than wearing a cheesy shirt from the 80's (which scarily enough is coming back! ICK!) or something that hides virtually nothing... I couldn't imagine how it wouldn't match my age. I have nice clothes too. I just have no need to wear them all the time. I mean... Hello......... I'm a mechanic. : )
So how 'bout you?
@ Laurie... What in the heck are "open toed winter type shoes"??? Us northerners have no such wording in our vocabulary! LOL!
ETA- Those aren't winter shoes!!! THESE---> http://www.dmusastore.com/p-3191-holt.aspx <--- are WINTER shoes! : )
All of you and your southern warmth... *sticks tongue out at all of you*!!! : D
@ Tracy K... I'm not saying anything wrong with a cleavage shirt for the hubby on date night!!! I have those just for that too!
As for hospital scrubs... May not be stylish or "fun" but OH SO COMFY!!!!
And I love my yoga pants too!

Most of the time I don't have to interact with humans so I wears jeans and a some type of shirt. On days when I have to deal with humans I wear a suit.
Both I consider ageless.
I work in the OR of a Hospital so I have to wear the Hospital provided scubs. Nice because I do not have to think about what to wear, but yet boring.
If I don't have to leave the house I wear comfortable worn jeans, a soft sweater, and thick socks. No bra.
When I go into the world, I put on whatever combination of clothing that brings delight to my senses.
Does it match my age? Not sure. I'm 26 and I wear clothes that I feel beautiful in.
____________
I am drawn to color and texture. I love leather, cashmere, silk, cottons, linen, wool, etc. I wear colors that feel good to look at. I don't get to paint anymore, so when I dress I put care into my palette. It's a way that I can connect with beauty.
Most of my clothes are hand me downs, hand made, or thrift store treasures. They are worn and have character. I like clothes that tell a story - they feel more special. I enjoy pairing items, seeing how they can transform side by side, on a body.
My mom just gave me the most gorgeous 1960's suit. My step grandmother made it by hand. It's a strange ocher color, and fits like a glove. I've enjoyed wearing that with my boots.
I like juxtaposing styles. Something feminine and soft paired with a men's or military inspired cut. A tattered black long jacket, paired with simple hard lines and fantastic shoes.
I don't spend much money on clothing, but I'm good at choosing stuff that will stick around. I have clothes from when I was sixteen, and clothes from my mom that she bought thirty years ago.
I look around at the natural world, on sidewalks, in media. What do I like about that? How might I make that my own? What inspires me? Would I paint this or photograph this, here, or here, or here? What does this say? How can I best describe my mood?
I'm not sure that anyone else likes the way I dress - or that I look quirky or pretty. But that's not the point. I like getting dressed in the morning, and I'm doing it for me. It's one way I can bring beauty and creation into the world, even if that's just for me.
.
100% cotton yoga pants with a 100 % cotton, brightly colored t shirt, v-neck, with good sports shoes. When it's cold, I don a zippered sweat shirt or windbreaker.
Sometimes I try to shower before picking up the kids and if I do, I will put on stretchy jeans or khakis with a 3/4 length sleeve T shirt.
I dread dressing up.
I wear my tshirt or sweat shirt and pj bottoms or yoga pants all day... until I go to work. Then its the same top and jeans. Being stuck in a hot kitchen all night I don't need to look my best.
If Im bartending then its a nice top and jeans... I will then put my hair in a nice pony tail or put up nicely instead of it just thrown back. And actually put on make up ( shocking to most lol)
Ha! Here is an example of a winter open toed shoe.
http://www.nextag.com/peep-toe-flats/stores-html
Scorts, Black, Denim, Khaki, Brown
Peasant type tops or solid colored v neck tees (Target)
And always cute open toed sandals. Black pair, Brown Pair and a metallic pair.
In the winter (ha, if you can call it that) Jeans, or black slacks, Cotton blouses, or long sleeved t's maybe with a fleece vest if it is really cold.
Denim skirt.
Cute flats. Black, Brown maybe a pair of open toed winter type shoes.
I am very warm natured so I really never wear a coat , just a jacket with a scarf and a hat.
When I am decorating and taking down decorations.. Jeans, Top, tennis shoes and an apron.. Crazy Christmas type hats..Even when outside I will not need anything more than a Tee.. So much running around.
I have great legs.. So I tend to wear lots of dresses when going out..
Hi mechcanic-
I dress according to my day! If subbing 2nd grade or younger...I dress in nice yet 'touchable' clothes so I need not worry if I get 'slimed' or something! For older grades...I dress up a bit more...it sets the tone...and high heels help me convey authority, if that makes sense.
For 'regular' days...leggings or jeans and a shirt/sweatshirt!
michele/cat
I am so boring.
If I'm at work, I wear what they tell me to (I work for an airline).
If I'm off, I wear jeans, a white T shirt, one of many different colored sweaters if it's cold. I change it up with different scarves and handbags.
If I want to be comfy I wear shorter jeans with flats. If I feel more feminine I wear boots or sandals with heels. Occasionally I will wear a JCrew-type long sleeved shirt i.e. with an actual collar and cuffs). I wear the same watch, and a necklace given to me by my husband, every day.
If something fits me well, I by two or three in different colors and rotate it in. For going out I wear good jeans, heels, and a more trendy top...but I only shop a couple times a year. I hate shopping, except for handbags, and that is usually the most fashionable/high ticket item in any outfit I wear.
I think I dress my age--early 40s.
OK even I am getting bored reading about my boring wardrobe : (
Daily wear? well i am at home with just the girls so most days it is either yoga pants or jeans and a tank top.
If we are going into town i might dress up and wear a casual day dress, or a nice jacket or dress shirt. Yes, I think I dress my age... I am fairly young still... so it isn't hard to do. In the fall I wear crocs that look like ballet flats, and Teva sandals in the summer... heels if I am feeling sassy.
I just pray that "stacy and clinton" never get any secret footage of my backside LOL (or do I?)...
-M.
@ Laurie: hehehe "open toed type winter type shoes" WHAT? is that like snow boots with the toes chopped off? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Here in the frozen wasteland you don't wear open toes in the winter unless you are drunk or... not very smart. LOL...
My workout clothes...even on days I don't work out! They are SO comfortable.
"Open-toed winter type shoes" would be suede or dark-colored sandals, shoes that look like cooler weather all the way around with the toe open. Duh--lol! I'm a shoe therapist, and most of my shoes are open.
Anyway, I work in hospital administration, so my wardrobe varies from a little less than business casual to business formal. Thankfully, it mostly depends on my mood and my calendar.
ETA: THESE are winter shoes around these parts!! http://www.zappos.com/earthies-veria-dark-khaki
Morning: gym or yoga outfit.
Midday: always put together and overdressed, polished and very trendy.
Night: fluffy robe at home.
Well, I'm an insurance agent and own an agency that is in an office although I have the luxury of being able to work from home when I want to...which is pretty much all the time now! So I can wear my pj's all day if I choose to! =) I have sundresses that I call "moo-moo's" that I sometimes throw on or I wear shorts and a tee shirt. If I'm meeting a client at the office I will wear business casual. As far as it "matching my age?" I'm 44 so the shorts and tee shirts...I guess so...my moo-moo's...probably not so much! =)
Since I only leave during the week to drop and pick up from school..I have to say I am not the poster child for daily sexiness.
Today it is a black and grey wide striped sweater...with layering tank top under it...and my most comfortable pair of Victoria Secret Sweats.
Toms. Which I wear as my house shoes.....and as my outside shoes(shush though....I kinda break my rule...because I am moving around so much and hate it when I walk through say crumbs in my socks;p)...
If I know I have to be some where I will get up and put myself together a bit more....Jeans.....hair done...maybe make up....but on a daily basis I am lucky if I get to shower.
When I'm at home: easy, like jeans or cargos, cropped pants (it's been in the 80s this week in Denver!) and a t-shirt or tank with a sweater or sweatshirt if it gets chilly (it may be in the 80s during the day, but it gets chilly when the sun goes down) Colorado is all about dressing in layers. I usually feel like a mis-matched bum. I'll look in the mirror and it's 11 - I'm still in my plaid pj bottoms with a striped shirt and a sweater over that. sigh.
Work is still casual most days, but I try to look nicer so jeans and a blouse, or sometimes a skirt with some cute flats. I'm taller than my husband so I don't wear heels ;-) I also get to wear dangly earrings and necklaces at work, yay! (no baby to grab them, here!)
I think it matches my age - maybe a little young and sloppy at times. I look young (I'm 28 and most say I look early 20's) so when I need to look professional I try to wear more "grown-up" clothes. :)
If I am working at an emergency practice - it's scrubs and comfy shoes. And the white lab coat. The scrubs are like wearing pajamas. Add in the fuzzy lined Crocs and it's like I'm wearing bedroom slippers.
If I am working at a day-time general practice - I'm a bit more polished and it's khaki pants and a nice shirt that isn't "too nice" and can be washed easily and shoes that look nicer but are still comfy (i.e. black leather clogs). And the white lab coat.
If am just at home or running errands around town, bootcut jeans or capris and typically a solid-colored t-shirt or sweater or hoodie. Try to look reasonably decent and still be comfortable as opposed to being a total schlub.
If going out (like to lunch or dinner), depends - during the summer in the warm weather, I am a big fan of the white peasant blouse with a long brightly colored patterned skirt. With the cooler weather settling in, I am going to miss my flip-flops and cute sandals!
I work for an internet company, so I wear jeans & t-shirt to the office. :)
When I work from home, it's usually just PJs! Or I'll at least throw off my jeans & put my PJ pants on to be more comfy! :)
Business casual. Slacks and a blouse with flats. I wear a lot of dresses. Rarely heels. I think becasue I work in an office, I dress a little older than myself sometimes. I have a few modern pieces that jazz it up and I wear fun jewelry. By contrast, when I'm off it's Yoga pants and a tank top or t-shirt.. When I go out on a date with my husband it's usually a busty blouse that shows too much cleavage, tight jeans and heels. What can I say, he's a breast man.
At home, I stay in my pjs all day long (Unless I have to go out to the barn, then I wear my barn clothes).
At work, I wear the famous wal-mart attire.
When I'm out in public, I wear jeans, a nice shirt, and a sweater.
I'm 19.
Army Combat Uniform (ACU). Because that's what they make me wear.
It's actually ridiculously comfortable. Like wearing pajamas to work.
Wyandotte!!!! My hometown!!!!
Well funny you should ask. I'm 57, use a Hoveround, have plenty of nice clothes, but frankly, living on my own in a 55 and older community, I really don't give much of a rip. I could clean out my closet w/out shedding too many tears. I get up in the a.m., and instead of totally changing my clothes, I take my dog out in what I wore to bed. Covered with a hoodie. And where I live, who cares?, right? There's no dress code for walking your dog.
I'd love to have places to go where I could dress up more. I do occassionally. But generally, sweats/jeans/shorts (depending on the season) and tops accordingly. Sure I look like a schlubb most of the time. But I learned, way back at Roosevelt High school there in Wyandotte, that clothes don't always dictate the person. There are more important issues in life to put at the forefront than if this or that person matches his wardrobe.
Well since I just opened a preschool out of my home from 9-12 each day I have to get dressed **sigh** ;) But prior to that I would be in "lounge" clothes (yoga pants, tank tops etc) pretty much all day unless I had something to do beyond grocery shopping etc... I work part time at night so I usually wait until 2 or 3pm to take my shower and then get dressed for work so that I dont feel gross from the day while I am at work.
I am 30 and I wear jeans every single day. Even when I work. I am a photographer and I need to wear comfortable clothes because sometimes I'm on the ground or squatting or doing some weird thing to get a good angle of the photo. I'm not going to do that in khakis or a skirt, lol! I also wear T shirts too. I LOVE knit sweaters though and can't wait for the weather to cool down enough to wear them every day.
Our office is dress casual. So I typically wear pants (jeans on Friday) with a nice top or sweater. Occasionally I will wear a skirt or nice slacks/heels. Summer it's capri's.
Weekends it's jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt.
I'm 37. I dress pretty conservatively.
Im 30.....mostly i wear work out clothes(yoga pants or capris, and strappy top, bra), well because i work out every day sometimes twice and it just seems appropriate. When i leave the house i wear, jeans, capris or skirts with relatively nice tops, even if they are camisoles, due to Texas weather, i try to make them pretty, with a nice color, lace or print. I always wear tasteful jewelry and tasteful makeup. Sometimes i sport heels, but mostly i wear a nice flat shoe or boots.
I always try to look nice even if i have a ponytail and tennis shoes im somewhat put together. I wear makeup to the gym, lol.
You wont catch me dead in ill fitting clothes or grungy stuff. I refuse to wear t-shirts, or my husbands clothes, mom jeans, or mom shorts.
the ugliest thing i own are crocs, lol
Jeans or cords
Camisole
Super Sexy (haha and SECRET) lingerie underneath. Hehehe. It's my joke on the world. I may dress like a 12yo boy on the outside, but vavavoom! Watch me take it off!
Multiple layers above and below 10 mo a year. Meaning UnderArmor & OutdoorResearch!!! (woot!) Underarmor leggings, and O.R. "first layer", and 2nd, and sometimes 3rd.
I should add... I wear flip flops (havaianas, man, do brazillians know flips!) year round. As long as the BOTTOM of my feet are warm, AND there's no snow, my feet are warm. :) Also, since it's usually RAINING here... feet dry a LOT faster than shoes. And by a lot, I mean in minutes instead of hours. Snow = SmartWool socks and snowboots.((We *usually* spend half of all winter in the mountains, which means snow. But back down in dear old dreary drizzly seattle, it's back to my flip flops.))
I'm a student (college). I homeschool. I could wear my PJs 24/7. I may be "simple" but it's what I enjoy.
32 :D
At home I wear a t-shirt or tank top and cotton shorts, usually no shoes. For doing errands, solid colored t-shirt, capris and leather flats. For volunteering at school, jeans or cotton pants, fancier t-shirt or top, and tennis shoes.
I don't like tight collars or long sleeves, and I know how to fix them with the sewing machine. At home in the winter I might wear a sweatshirt if I'm cold, but to go out I switch to short sleeves with a zippered fleece jacket over it because everyone else turns the heat up.
I wear jeans with a v-neck t-shirt and cami, henleys, and Harley Davidson shirts. Ok I have been told I have to many Harley shirts and needrd to buy something else from my daughters. Tha"ts when I added the v-necks. I almost always have some kind of bracelet on and I always change my earrings to match. For shoes flip flops or Pumas. As for matching my age....I don't really shop by age I shop by what I like.
Capri's and a T shirt and sandles. I too work around nothing but men...I work for an Import Automotive parts house. It's alot of fun...And I am 37
Skirt and heels; suit and heels; dress and heels.
Yes, I try to "dress my age" and not look older than needed, but business attire is the expectation here!
Jammies. I throw on jeans when I pick my daughter up at school - I don't wanna cramp her style :)
When leaving the house....jeans or cords and a nice top.
Not sure if I dress my *age* (I'm 30)....but I definitely dress very casually.
I typically wear a skirt and a comfy top. I hate button up blouses, so I usually pick either a nice t-shirt-type of top or an over the head blouse. I might have a cardigan or zip-up hoodie on with it if I'm cold. I am a stay at home, homeschooling mother. I honestly wouldn't dream of staying in my pjs all day because I don't think I would be very productive if I did. And, I don't find jeans all that comfortable. I love the flow of a skirt (I don't like dresses though). I think it adds a softness. I don't do frumpy. I'm 44. Even though you didn't ask. I think I dress for my age, but to be honest, I feel at least a decade younger.
I work from home but I still get up shower and get ready for the day. I don't own sweat pants, yoga pants, etc.
I am usually in my White House Black Market shorts and cute top or my Anthropologie most comfy Stevie jeans and a cute top.
On Thursdays and Fridays I wear the spiritwear tops ( we get blingy ones) for school spirit. JV games are Thursdsay nights, daughter cheers and Varsity games are Friday night.
We usually eat lunch out daily and/or I run errands... I like to be put together and look nice where ever I am. I don't look my age, I am not conservative but I am not over the top either. I strike a happy balance...
T-shirt and jeans. I'm a stay at home mom. Sometimes I'll put on a nicer than t-shirt top, but I like my jeans... I vary them with dark to light color and length (i cut them into shorts then they get holes at the knees). Flip-flops, tennis shoes or cow-girl boots.
I'm 30.
