I found my wife!! She's awesome!! (hopefully she'll read this!)
I've been to garage sales and found baseball cards that were worth about $30 each and paid .25 cents each for them.
So I went to the library today, and I was contemplating my husband. This is a true story. Last year, my husband went to the library, and found $20 bill blowing through the parking lot. No one was around. Then he meets up with me and the kids at the ballpark, and walks by a $5 bill on the ground. When he gets to the bleachers, he finds a whole bunch of quarters under the bleachers when he sits down. Same day!! Once I found a ruby ring, it wasn't spectacular, but it was a ruby!! My son has found a diamond ring before. So my question to you is, have you ever found something that is awesome or unbelieveable?

I found my son, far away in another country living with foster parents. His uncanny resemblance to my husband's personality, his ready smile, his incredibly thoughtful questions and comments, all blow me away. I was sure we could love a child who was not biologically related to us, but I was not expecting this feeling of "the perfect match for our family"
Once when I was 13 our family was at a beach in Florida. Halfway through the day I realized I forgot to take out my prized opal earrings. They were real gold and a big deal to me at the time. One of them was missing, I had no clue where I could have lost it. I was upset and crying. My great uncle was splashing around being over the top goofy to cheer me up and told me not to worry he'd find it. He was grabbing handfuls of sand off the ocean floor and looking through it. His third handful of sand he found my lost earring. So although I didn't find it, I benefited from the great find.
I found a nest of baby rabbits in my parents' yard. It was really amazing how they make their nests so cleverly... I wouldn't have ever notice it if I hadn't seen the dog carrying one of them. Obviously that one died, but I kept her away from the others. It was incredible.
My husband! He was playing shortstop and wouldn't stop looking at me in the bleachers.
Well, the lady who owned my house before I bought it left her AMAZING wildly expensive Boos butcher block cutting board on the counter.
I have no idea how I ever cut ANYTHING before I had it! That was 5 years ago and I still secretly worry she's gonna show up looking for it.
:)
I've never found anything awesome (that I can remember) but somebody benefitted from my best friend losing something. One night in college we were heading out to the bars and she got a $20 out of the ATM. Just as it popped out a huge gust of wind came and carried it away!! (Hey, maybe your husband found it?!)
I was digging in a patch of dirt/grass/weeds in my front yard when I was little and found a turquoise ring. I gave it to my mom and she loved it. It made me think maybe my house was on Indian land. I thought that idea was really cool. But my dad - having that mean sense of humor that only dads have - liked to torment me about it being an Indian burial ground.
We found a flip camera once in a parking lot we left our phone number in the stores lost and found never got a call.

I don't know about unbelievable....but I found a huge wad of ride tickets at an amusement park once as a kid (when they still used tickets) and the occasional 5 or 10 dollar bill over the years.
Now...my son? THE MOST observant person on the planet....he finds stuff ALL the time! Maybe not "unbelievable" stuff but golf balls, baseballs, money ALL the time, he even once found a whole book of stamps....and a credit card on the ground once at the grocery store--the lady was SO grateful to him for finding it!
I have found a few jewelry pieces!
I always watch Antiques Roadshow and I wonder why I can't stumble upon finds like that, Mr. Mom! ;)
Anyway, no I don't think I have. I guess I'm just not lucky, although it sounds like you are raking it in! ;)
At our old house my daughter kept finding mardi-gras coins from the 70s in the dirt. She found about 5 of them. They were really neat. In that same yard we also found a car battery, tarp, oriental rug, 30lb weight steak knife, and old toys buried in various parts of the yard. I think we used to live above an old dump! Lol.
My relative unearthed an antique jar in the style I collect. It was near an old camp they bought. I love it. I often wonder if it got tossed because it was "defective", as the lid was made slightly off-kilter. I think that makes it even more special.
