Since Oliver's last poopy explosion several months ago (Where I was stuck without extra pants for him on a very cold day), I have double checked that there is an extra pair of pants in his diaper bag wherever we go. That said...

The washer in our apartment building has been broken for a week (The repair man was there fixing it yesterday and he said he was going to finish it today... Fingers crossed). Everything is dirty... Sheets, towels, clothes, etc... Since Oliver has a much larger wardrobe than I do he has been lucky so far.. Until today.

He is wearing his last clean pair of pants. He still has a wealthy stock of clean shorts but since we just had another snow storm shorts were not an option. I was not able to bring a spare pair of pants with him today but I figured that I would be okay since he hasn't leaked through his diaper in several months.

Ya... I changed him before we left the house (Right after waking him up) and then we were in the car for half an hour. By the time we got to work his diapers was FULL of pee, his onsie was wet, and his pants were getting wet. Sigh... I have the outfit sitting out to air dry...

So what experiences have you had with Murphey's Law recently?

What can I do next?

Recently? No, but when my son was a baby we left the house and it was sunny and 70 outside. Had dinner at my MIL's house and came home in a snow storm... 3 hours later. Upstate NY is a strange weather place! Needless to say, we had extra clothing, his portable crib, the bouncer... you name it, we had it. Extra bottles? Check. Extra binkies? Check. Food for him? Yup. Snow suit the first week in May? Nope.

Saturday we went to a party. Apparently I have not revamped the diaper bag in a while. My daughter had a complete blow out, had to change her outfit. She was wearing a dress with tights.

All I had in the diaper bag was two outfits that were 6-9 months. She is in 18 months.. so she was wearing a halloween outfit that looked like floods/capris on her and 1/2 sleeves.. I had borrow a pair of socs from the host sicne she had on tights.. Sigh..

Lessons learned..

Yesterday. My daugther had a fever of 103.5 over night and then it spiked agian druing the day. My nanny for my son was in a car accident, so I had to run and pick him up from school (normall I work in the office not at home, my daughter goes to daycare and my son has a nanny so he can go to school by the house). Right now I am in limbo with the nanny, since I have not heard back from her. oh and it is close week, I am usually required to work in the office. THankfully I have been at my company for almost 17 years and my boss has kids and knows the trials and tribulations that happen.

Good luck

Uh laundromats exist for those that do not have access to washing machine or are waiting for one to be fixed. Lesson learned I hope. Do laundry before you are down to your last pair of pants. I always keep an extra outfit in car and one in diaper bag.

Krista, just because it snowed you did not need a snowsuit. As long as your car had heat you probably did not need a jacket. Snowsuits are made for kids that go out to play in the snow.

I'm sorry - but doesn't your town have a laundry mat? That's what I would have done...taken everything in baskets - with toys for the kid to play with - and gotten the job done.

Murphy's Law moments??? Hhhmm...anything that can go wrong...will go wrong...

I was flying out to California for my nephew's wedding...first flight was on-time...then it was delayed an hour...then it was delayed FOUR hours...then my connecting flight in Denver was delayed another FOUR hours....lol!! guess that's not a good Murphy's Law example...but it went wrong....

If the washing machine in your complex breaks again...ask your employers if you can use theirs while you are working....or take it to the laundry mat. don't want to take Oliver with you? Have Justin take care of his son when he gets home from work. I've done six loads of laundry in about 1.75 hours and it was GREAT having it ALL done at once!!
