JFF - I Just Noticed...

The latest batch of Halls cough drops has an inspirational message on each wrapper. How...nice. Since my last cough drop told me to 'inspire envy,' I thought I'd brag about my very own bag of motivational throat therapy. With each wrapper not only will my throat be soothed but I'll be reminded I am 'be unstoppable' (I'll just settle for the coughing to stop but my standards are low these days.). Or I can remember "It's yours for the taking." (I sure hope so since I bought the dang bag of cough drops. I would hate to think I was stealing.)

So in my cold medicated fog I just have to ask - has it come down to us needing motivational messages on our cough drops? Who comes up with this stuff? I would love to sit in the meeting where this idea was pitched. I wonder how you even bring something this hokey up with a straight face.

In case you are wondering my next cough drop says "A Pep Talk in Every Drop."

What can I do next?

What makes it so funny is how random it is? Who's the guy in the think tank that says, "I know! Inspirational messages on the wrappers!!" Of all the things to put on the wrapper of a cough drop, that seems the strangest. I would think it would be facts about illness or feeling better. When you are sick, should you "inspire envy" or should you "drink honey and lemon water"? Should you "be unstoppable" or should you "take a nap"?

It's bizarre in it's randomness and totally hilarious!

Perhaps sick people are a little too cranky for upbeat wrappers.... Having no head cold, I think it's cute! Why should peppy messages be saved for pricy candles, yoga gear, tea bags, fortune cookies....I mean, why can't every day Joe's cough drops get in on the act. I always liked the jokes in bubble gum wrappers too when I was a kid.

Well, as someone else referred to, they are like Fortune cookies, for the adults we have to add "in bed" to the end of every one...MUCH more interesting.

So for yours..."Inspire envy...in bed"??? or "Its your for the taking...in bed"... or the last one? "A pep talk in every drop...in bed"?? Well that one depends on how graphic your brain is I suppose! LMAO...yup...that makes it work! Very funny stuff!

I better go look at my Halls too! I have the cold from hell. I am on day 10 or 11 of hacking and mucus hell. I finally caved in and will go to the Dr's tonight. Probly tell me its just an evil cold, but maybe a sinus infection at this point? Its affecting my entire households sleep...ugh!

Feel better and happy cough fortunes...er..inspirations??

EDIT~ read Itsacrazylifewith4's little pearls of wisdom from hers...they work with the "in bed" at the end too..LOL..Ok laughing makes mecough more..but too funny!

So cute! I think someone needed to justify their job in the cough drop factory, but that's okay with me!

Smiles, and hope you get rid of that darn cough soon!

noticed that today-bought them yesterday. Mine said "Get to it" and "Don't wait, get started". I don't want to! Don't think these little sayings are helping me feel better.

Oh Well, happy coughing.

Maybe the company thinks your home in bed, all alone and need a little reassurance???

Have you seen the latest Breast Cancer bracelets? I assume they are for young boys, as that is where I have noticed them. This rubber band states: "LOVE BOOBIES" Now how's that for marketing and future referencing?

I think they're amusing! I think they came up with a creative way to add value to their product that costs almost nothing, and that's a rare feat.

If you think they came up with a chihuahua eating tacos, humanized pet dander, dust and mold, cows hanging from billboards urging you to "eat chickn" and all the other crazy commercial out there, you realize they would do ANYTHING to sell their darn products.

Reminds me of the Dove chocolates, I have seen cute saying in the wrappers. I really liked the Taco Bell hot sauces too, when they started with the funny statements on each one.

Obviously it was a marketing genius because now I know about these inspirational messages along with the rest of Mamapedia. We will all probably remember Halls cough drops because of this post. "Cough cough. ugggh, this cough. O wait! Remember that post about the cough drop wrappers? I think I'll look for those just to see what they say." This post is going to be read by 100s? 1000s?
That's just extra free advertising for Halls. All because you were intrigued, amused, confused by little sayings on their wrappers. Genius.
