R.B.
my ex husbands grandma still uses a rotary phone and a wringer washing machine.
She also has no running water in there house and brings buckets of fresh water in the house daily. They also have an out house as their only bathroom.
a wringer wash machine (great appliance, by the way:)? A turn dial phone? A washboard maybe?
Yes, phone books count:) I didn't know that those were considered outdated though!:) There are just somethings that you cannot part with; you just cannot mess with the classics:)

I love phone books. We also have an old Sunbeam toaster which magically lowers and raises the toast (we've named it Jeeves; I have a whole blogpost on it) and an old blender, which is a workhorse and doesn't make half as much noise. Both the blender and toaster are probably mid-60s or so.
I also collect vintage handkerchiefs. They aren't appliances, but still very useful.
Yes I have a old victrola that I use one in a while...
And a old potato slicer..
And a note to Mary L.. the old phones wont work with today's system, back when they came out with push button phones they also went to transisters and uses less vottage to operate.so thats why the old phones wont ring....
Would a phone book count? LOL.
1960's Flare GM wall oven.
It opens like a spaceship (and looks like one too).
potato masher....yes!
phone book.....yes, but I hate them!
hand-cranked nut chopper....yes! Love it!
glass lemon juicer.....yes!
I also use old wooden hangers, my Grpa's cigar boxes, many misc wooden crates, my Grma's Betty Crocker cookbook from circa 1950. Oh, & I also have my Gr Grpas' suitcases, my Grpa's suitcases, & my Grma's hat boxes. All in use in our home!
EDIT: I forgot...we use my Grpa's old record player. It plays both 33s & 78s...which my DH collects. I also have my grandparents' 1930s gas stove!
I have a hand turning meat grinder. We had one when I was a kid and processed a lot of beef into hamburger. My bosses parents passed and they had one. I eyeballed it and he handed it to me.
I made a great hamburger from it, but I don't have anywhere to clamp it. Now I think I want an electric one, but I'll keep the hunk of metal.
omg Rose K, I have a sweeper too! Its the prettiest yellow from the 1970's (it was my MIL) and I use it more for the garage and mud room carpets. But it still works and going strong! They don't make things like they used to these days.
Hi M.-
I still have OLD beaters...two 'whisks' attached with a hand 'crank' on the side...I LOVE it to whisk eggs...
I have very old cast iron pans of all sizes...and love them...
I still have stationery...and 'calling cards' with my now ex hubbies "rank and MRS. ______.!!
I have a wash board and some old ice tongs...as wall hangings...
And the list goes on!
Best luck!

Our fridge is from 1945 and still works like a champ. Ditto on my oven and stove from the early fifties. Plus you just can't beat the turquoise blue color. I also inherited my grandmother's deep fryer from the early 60s. We also have a hand shifter and wooden potato masher. If it works properly and safely, why not we say. My personal favorite isn't an appliance, though. It's the rocking chair my grandfather's mother used to rock her children and it was passed through the family before then. Nothing better than rocking my son in the chair. My husband bought me a new rocking chair because the old one is creaky. The new is just not as comfortable so we got rid of it.
I have my grandmother's old metal flour sifter. The kind with the lever like a jack-the-box. It holds all the dry ingredients for a given recipe and combines them perfectly!
I use a mortar and pestil ....when I have a perfectly good electric spice grinder. , lol
I do use a phone book. And a potato masher, because instant mashed potatoes taste like the box they come in. And the *really* old-school dishwasher - my hands. I have a rotary phone for sentiment's sake. (I remember when push-button phones were new; my dad saw them one day, and they were in our house the next! He loved the idea.) At the moment the old phone rings, but the person on the other end can't hear me. I hope I can find someone to fix it one day. Cutting-edge technology may be useful, but let's keep it all in perspective....
Are carpet sweepers really outdated? They're wonderful, and they don't require any energy except from the people running them!
My mom and dad still have a wringer wash machine, and we used it several times during my childhood. Its main purpose was for washing cloth diapers, but it also came in handy when our automatic washing machine would break and we didn't have the money to either fix or replace it.
My dad still uses his 8-track player and has 3 record players.
We have a set of beaters that have a hand crank instead of an electric motor.
I have one of those old electric roasters from the 30's. It was like an original crock pot.. But huge. It belong to my husbands grandmother. I love it.. People freak when they see it..
Also I have a Meritt and O'Keefe stove. It is from the 1950's.It looks like a I Love Lucy type of stove. .
It is actually under a year old but I have a mocha machine. How you made espresso in the good old days. It works so, ya know, we go with it.
Our waffle maker is from the 60's. It was my MIL's and it makes the best waffles. It wont turn off in the "off" mode anymore, but still works like a charm, just have to remember to unplug it, rather then try to turn it off with the slide button. =)
I have been on the hunt for a working, and attractive rotary phone! I still love the feel and sound of dialing a phone number, lol! But I have been told that, depending on our local phone service, it may or may not actually work :(
What a fun question.
a have a blender from the 70's
my tv and washing machine are 20 years old
my hand mixer from the late 70's died last year
it's not really an appliance but I still use a clothesline and a hand potato masher. Once in a while, I use a phonebook.
knives
thats about it
Hmmm... Do these count?
A carpet sweeper.
A wine stopper.
My hands. (Old fashioned dish washer!)
Our only TV is about 20 years old. I trust that counts.
We have a 30 year old turn table.
We also the good 1940s wash tubs in the basement.
