Jessica is 13 months She has had trouble with some foods that cause her alergic reactions. And besides that she wont eat anything, she has no intrest in any foods not even bananas. I have been breastfeeding her since day 1 and now she has teeth and not only I'm ready to quit but I know she needs to eat other stuff.
Any advise?

What can I do next?

I didn't really start solids with my first until he was almost 18mo. Breastmilk continues to be the perfect nutrition for even toddlers. I would express your concerns with the ped and get a referral for a nutritionist. But it sounds like you're doing just fine! The longer you breastfeed, the more likely she is to outgrow her food sensitivities.

Hi J.,
Is there anything that you can get her to eat on a regular basis ?

Like maybe applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, I know it may sound gross but if you can get her to eat these things all the time then add in fruit and vegetables to them after awhile start giving her a bite of just the vegetable or fruit.

Samething with mashed potatoes mix in gravy, vegetables and whatever meat you are having.
Have you tried oatmeal all kinds of varieties and then mix in the banana, also if you can eat certain baby food 3rd foods stick with them for awhile but also mix in regualer food with it.

I had this problem with my 3rd child when we started him at 4 months eating cereal he didn't like it, wouldn't eat baby food unless I mixed them fruits and vegetables together. Then when we started table food the only things he liked was vegetable soup, corn/corn on the cob, ice cream and chocolate milk and cheese pizza. The only way I've gotten him to eat things is by regularly putting it on his plate.

Now at 6 y/o he eats everything the only thing I have found he won't eat is peas.

So my advice see what you can get her to eat build on the things she will eat. And keeping making her a plate of what you are having for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sonner or later she will figure out she better eat what is in front of her speically if you start weaning her. As with any child if they are hungry they will eat, mine did and has. Somedays he cleans his plate and other days he picks at everything.

Hope this helps you W. mom of 4.

Don't worry too much. I know you want to stop breastfeeding, but it seems like she needs it a little longer. Keep trying other foods. You can just try to give her little bites of whatever you are eating so you don't waste money on baby food. I would often sort of mush food up with my front teeth before giving it to my babies. Does she drink from any kind of cup. You could try milk, juice or formula. Good luck.

My 3 year old was the basically the same. She would not eat do to not having teeth. She nursed great and eventually (slowly) added food to her interests. She grew all of her baby teeth in very late, (after 1 yr old) and could not chew very well so therefore she didnt like much food. She was on stage 1's for MONTHS when she did begin to like foods. Dr was not worried because she was nursing well and healthy. Her weight kinda plateud out and stayed the same for several months. Maybe you could ween her to a sippy cup with milk or juice and that might spark her to like food. hope this helps a little...just know you arent the only one to go thru something like this.

I have kids with food allergies too. Have you joined www.kidswithfoodallergies.org? If you haven't DO.

As for not eating, all kids go through periods of this. Have you tried finger foods (cheerios, chicken finger bites, dried fruit, veggies straight from the can, etc.....)?

Let me know what her allergies are and maybe I can be more help.

Also, there is a local parents of kids with food allergies support group. They are having a playdate this Friday at 10:30 at Stars and Stripes park at Lake Hefner.
