Due to having endometriosis (and having surgury for it 8-2008), has anyone been told this before and then got pregnant naturally, after being told it wont happen......I NEED ENCOURAGMENT!!:)

What can I do next?

i am an ivf nurse as a matter of fact. if you haven't actually seen an infertility practice you should for an opinion because if it was your ob/gyn who told you a specialist may have more insight. endo depending on how bad is hard to get pregnant with. before getting worked up just go sit with a specialist, they even have their own therapist on staff.if you have anymore specific questions let me know and i will get you the answer.

Hi A.,

I haven't had endometriosis but the very first exam I had at the age of 18 was a doctor that nonchalantly told me I would never have any children. Well, I have two girls and didn't try until I married at the age of 32. Doctors are wrong on many occasions. I agree with MJ about chiropractic care. I do not know of an upper cervical chiropractor in Columbus but you can look on upcspine.com for one. Dr. John DiBlasi at Family Chiropractic on Veteran's Parkway is old school but a very good and caring chiropractor.

God bless you and don't give up!

M.

P.S. That nonchalant doctor was at Martin Army!

I had many surgeries for this condition and also went through IVF four times. I got pregnant with first IVF but miscarried. I found this process very difficult and physically and mentally. Also, with endomet. and IVF combined - you have a much higher chance of miscarriage. I would encourage you to follow the alternative medicine route and give acupuncture a try.

It happens! Not to me personally, but I do know other moms that went through IVF and then got pregnant naturally after they were told that they could not conceive. I also know one mom who had a baby and the doc told her it was a miracle--tried for YEARS to get pregnant again, gave up and got pregnant with twins!

In the cases that I know, the moms that got pregnant actually gave up trying. So I am wondering if the stress of trying made it harder to get pregnant?

I did not have endometriosis (although I did have a laparoscopy because my dr. swore up & down that I did), but had what you call "unexplained infertility." And being a control freak and not willing to be patient, after two years of trying and at least 3 miscarriages later, we finally decided to do IVF. No matter what everyone tells you, apart from the financial burden and the minor discomfort and procedures, I personally think it was well worth it considering the emotional stress I suffered prior to IVF. But you are still young, and if you are still of "sound mind," then I would wait and see if anything develops naturally before going this route. Good luck to you!

I know someone who had surgery for endometriosis and a few months after having the surgery that got pregnant after being told they would not be able to. So, don't worry too much about it..just give it a little time and it will happen.
I hope this helps.

WOW! I am sorry and surprised you received such "concrete" news. I would try lots of other things before I went the IVF route. I was not told the exact same thing, but was told I needed to try to get pregnant right away after my surgery for endometriosis if I wanted to conceive a baby, but I wasn't even married at the time. I was married 6 months later and I got pregnant 14 months after my surgery with no problems. Sometimes doctors give the worst diagnosis rather than encouragement. I wish you the best!

I think I responded to a similar request? Anyway, just in case heres my story.... The condition I had was worse than endo. I was told by 3 different specailists that I would NEVER carry a child full term and there was nothing I could do about it! It really takes the life out of you doesnt it!? Well, I proved them wrong with a Chiropractor's help!!! I would advise you to seek this care and have your estrogen and progestorne hormone levels checked right away! Most women with menstral problems have there prog. low. I used KALS natural prog cream and was pregnant within 2 months on the cream and with chiropractic care. I hope you'll give this a try! Best of luck to you, dont give! They dont always know what they're talking about!

I completely understand what you are going through. I was diagnosised with ascherman's syndrome after a D and C gone wrong. Went to a specialist in Columbus, Ga. He said the only way I would have a second child was Surrangancy or IVF. i had surgery in 7-08 to try and clear up the problems but he said damage was done. I just found out that I am 9 weeks pregnant. Don't give up hope, hang in there.

okay..how's this for encouragement...my college roommate, had endometriosis...bad...many times before she had surgery...and was told she'd never have a baby. she now has FOUR kids...all pregnancies occurred WITHOUT TRYING...and without any help. so hang in there...it may be awhile, let your body recover from the surgery...but never say never. good luck!

Hello A.

I know how you feel I to had endometriosis I had 3 surgery with this. We do have 1 boy 7 yrs. old. the Dr. told us we can try for another baby but would only carry it til 6mo. We have all really been though this with our son. So I had to get a hysterectomy because the endometriosis was so bad .

So the way I look at it with the Lord help and lots of prayer .I needed to thank God for the one he has blessed me with.Be thankful for the one you have. Maybe this will help you.

I was told that it was very unlikely I would ever get pregnant. I also have endometriosis. I did not have to have the surgery though. I had a lot of bladder/ yeast infections when I was first diagnosed so I spent a lot of time at the Gyn. One month he told me that if I wanted a baby start trying now, so we did and 6 months later I was pregnant with my son. He is 15 months old and I am now pregnant with our 2nd child. The endo has been in remission since then. I also have a friend who was told that she would not conceive and she had three naturally before having a hysterectomy. If you haven't been trying for a year then I would keep trying. There are a lot of diet changes that can help with conception for men and women. The biggest one is giving up caffeine. If you have been trying for a over a year then you might want to check into IVF, some insurance companies are covering it now. The best thing I can tell you to do is pray about it and don't become discouraged.

my story is this, and though it is a little different, i'll share anyway and parts may help:
conceived 1st child after one IUI (insemination) - total of 18 months from start to conception

tried for 2 years for 2nd pg, had lap surgery to check for endo, none left (had had surg. once before that did diagnose endo), had 5 IUI's, all failed.

turned to "natural" methods, concentrating on diet. i read The Fertility Diet, which I highly recommend, and I also tried, out of sheer curiosity (after some research), dropping gluten from my diet. one full cycle later i was pregnant naturally.

so, look down other avenues. understand WHY your doc said IVF is your only option. do you have damaged fallopian tubes? are you seeing a reproductive endocrinologist? you should be if you are not.

and pray! pray, pray, pray. the ultimate encouragement. :)
