IUD And Birth Control

Ladies I have a question. I have been on the pill for almost 11 years now. Since I started it I have always used an alternate source of birth control on top of it, just in case. My question is I'm getting the IUD this week and for those of you that have it do you trust it? Do I need to continue to use a second form or is it pretty trustworthy? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies for all of your feedback. My daughter is almost 11 and I really don't want anymore children so I just thought I would throw this out there.

i have the copper IUD -paragard and I love it. Is been 17 months and im not pregnant! My cramps are bad but its worth it to me. Im very fertile (we joke if he sneezes on me im pregnant) and we use no other back ups. Thumbs up over here!

I have Mirena. We use condoms as well, but that's more of a personal issue than a requirement. No one enjoys sex fully if they're worried about failing birth control.

The failure rate is pretty low, so if you want to just trust it, you're probably fine. You can look up reliability rates I'm sure. I'd be fine without the condoms (but I'd also be okay, theoretically if we got pregnant now) but for SO it isn't worth the risk.

My Mirena didn't even do the trick...inserted correctly and did not fall out but failed...I also had a LOT of other issues with it...just keep in mind that it can work for a lot of different women but their is that chance.

I've had no issues. We don't use "back up".

Well there is always a chance...nothing is 100%...well there is but I'm guessing that abstinence is not a option.

I have had the Mirena for 4 years...not oopsies but there are side effects you should research. I know the side effects question is out there...just search Mirena.

I have had an IUD for over a year. I have had no problems. I was previously on the pill for over 10 years as well. I am very fertile (got pregnant 3 times--each time during the first month I tried), and I'm not worried and do not use a "back up" method.
