I have another question for you mamas :) I am pregnant with #3 and have a '07 honda accord sedan. Am I going to be able to fit 3 carseats in the back or do I have to go trade it in for a minivan? lol. My toddlers current seats seem too big to fit with an infant seat - one is a graco and the other is evenflo - does anyone have 3 seats that fit nicely? They will be 3 and 4 when the baby comes with approx. weights of 28 and 34. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I have a 95 Subaru outback wagon and I fit 3 car seats in there but 2 of them are toddler boosters with a graco in the middle. You might be a bit tight with the regular seats but borrow out from someone and give it a try! Good luck and congratulations!

I found a booster seat on line that was rated for a 34 pound child. It is the seat only, and requires a shoulder harness seat belt. It is a Combi seat. I bought it to take on an overseas trip where we would be driving in multiple cars. I couldn't use it on the airplane (no shoulder strap) but we moved it from car to car with ease because it is so small.

3 carseats in a sedan is a challenge. Most carseats are so bulky. We have twins and and a 5 year old who requires a booster seat. We own a Camry. My husband purchased new carseats that are significantly narrower than most. We were still unable to squeeze the booster in between. It maybe possible to squeeze a 3rd seats identical to the other two. Fortunately we own a minivan also. I can't remember the brand of the carseats but can get that to you if you are interested. Hope this was helpful.

It's possible, but it is a very tight fight. Don't plan on taking them in and out on a regular basis. We had a Kia Sephia when my kids were young. I couldn't fit three in the back of that at all...unless we were to leave the doors open...lol. If you are appalled by the thought of a mini-van consider a car with a HUGE backseat!

We use to have the same problem. We got a mini-van. You can go to some stores and they will let you take the model seats to your car. We did and there was no way!

Measure the space in the back seat from the armrest to the armrest- the most narrow point-and then subtract the width of the infant seat. however many inches you have left, divide by 2 and you will see how wide the toddlers' seats can be. It can be done! I did it. I bought the high back booster/carseat at target from cosco. It was the most narrow. The four-year-old can also go to a backless booster which helps on space a lot, but putting the seatbelt on every time can be difficult in a small space like that. Measure, and give it a try!

I have three and I fit all carseats in the back. It can be a pain to buckle them in but it is fine. Just make sure the door shuts all the way. I have a impala but last week I fit them in my sisters nissan..much smaller back seat but it still fit. My kids are one three and four so the seat sizes should be about the same.

You most definitely can fit 3 seats however you will need to go to a pool store and get some floater rods. They are just long floatation tubes made of foam. You cut them and fit them under the back and sides of the car seats to insure they are tightly snug. You will not however be able to carry any other back seat passengers. LOL. You may want to eventualy get a larger car as the children will eventually out grow there car seats, and still be required to sit in the back, there are alternatives to mini vans. Good luck to you.

Start mini van shopping. it is almost impossible to fit 3 car seats in the back. Also if they did fit they would be on top of eachother fighting, touching eachother. proably not the most relaxing car trip. i am a mom of 4. we tried it in my husbands mercedes and forget it! 2 carseats is the max.

Because the infant seat face's backwards all three seats will fit for a while. Then if you have to get a bigger car to can get a an SUV instead of the van lol

Hi Jamie,

We just went thru this, but not because of #3. My son is in the giant Britax Regent for added safety and my newborn would not be able to fit in the middle of my Murano. Plus, we occasionally car pool other kids to school and even fitting a booster seat in would have been tough, unless you had super skinny hands to fit in between to buckle in. We ended up buying the GMC Acadia - a SUV with the same dimensions as a mini van. Granted it doesn't have as many conveniences as a minivan but we love it and it fits 8 with the ability to fit three car seats (one huge, one infant and one booster) in one row. I just couldn't do a minivan. I always feel like the driver seat will tip me and eject me down the pointy hood. LOL!
Good luck

Are they in booster seats? Those seem to be much narrower than the convertible car seats.

The new Radian 65 ($199) and radian 80 (from $249 - $279) car seats by sunshine kids are the safest and most compact car seats around making it easy to fit three in the back of a sedan. They fit children from 5-65 pounds and from 5-80 pounds (and to 49 inches tall) making them the only car seat you'll ever need. They have a steel alloy frame so they will last you years and boast more room on the interior for your child yet more narrow on the exterior to fit 3 in easy. check out the website www.sunshinekidsbaby.com. I highly recommend this car seat.

Even if you were able to fit all three seats in one car - in my experience, you're not going to want them to be so close to each other, especially the newborn. Getting them in and out will be a pain too. It is possible to find a vehicle other than a minivan that will work for your family but I LOVE my minivan and wouldn't trade it for anything right now. Added benefit of a minivan you may not be aware of is the reclining seats. My 9 year old loves to recline in the back seat and relax or sleep. Booster seats recline along with the vehicle seats.

Please don't get a minivan! lol, just kidding!
I would get a cross over. Like a Toyota rav 4. We have one and they have the model with he optional third row seating. They are great on gas and they are all wheel drive. Best darn vehicle we ever got. That way if your two oldest start to argue you can move one of them to the way back. They are even affordable.
Good luck! (if there is a Toyota salesperson reading this, I would like a huge discount on my next one)! lol.
